Advantages for Virtual Education: Classrooms Buildings Homes Community

Spacing is provided for social distancing for staff. Teachers may teach remotely from their classrooms at the school building.

Access is limited to teachers and administrative staff. This reduces chances of spread.

With over 76% of parents expressing concerns, a virtual environment provides a temporary solution to mitigate the risks of disease spread.

A virtual education program provides opportunities for students to enroll in Colleton County School District if parents do not want a face-to-face option.

Students have access to the virtual classroom during specific hours. The instructional day is 6 hours (9:00am-3:00pm)

Buildings and busses are provided with additional months to be sanitized and prepared for student return.

Resources are being used to build the capacities of families in case of future school closure that are related to other concerns such as weather related emergencies.

The community is better prepared and informed to support education efforts.

Virtual Education is available across all grade levels including Adult Education and CTE courses. Learning is in real-time and classroom resources are accessible anytime.

Virtual Education-Colleton County School District/Final Thoughts and Concerns

● Virtual education is feasible with proper preparation through professional development; adequate distribution of materials such as technology to families; and added social and emotional support to families in these unprecedented times.

● Virtual education will not address family concerns such as lack of day care or parent inability to oversee students to ensure that they remain on task during school hours.
