A Special & Bittersweet Announcement

Greetings Collington Community. I am writing to tell you about a recent announcement that you may have seen or soon will see coming from the Kendal Corporation (KCorp). Over the past several months, Kendal has been performing an exhaustive search for a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). There was a search committee consisting of several individuals across the system and Amy Harrison, Collington CFO, was among them.

Although I was not present for the interviews, my understanding is that at some point it became clear that the caliber of candidate needed for the job was not being found despite numerous interviews. Several members of the Search Committee, as well as some members of the Collington Leadership Team – including me, encouraged Amy to step forward to be considered for the job. She did just that and I am so proud to announce that Amy will be the next CFO for the Kendal System.

As you can see from the subject line of this message, this is the exact definition of bittersweet. Although it is extremely tough to see Amy move on from the role she has held here at Collington for nearly 5 years, we should all be proud that 1) we had in our midst an individual more qualified than any other candidate presented from a nationwide search and 2) that we will still benefit greatly from Amy’s expertise and skill as she will continue to be supporting Collington as she moves into this new position.

We are going to begin a recruitment process immediately for Amy’s successor and you’ll hear more details about that in the weeks to come. As always it will be an inclusive process, leaning upon the feedback and insights of numerous stakeholders including residents, staff and board members. We expect that Amy will begin the transition to her new role at KCorp mid-summer.

Now I would ask you do as I have recently…quickly work through your grief from this news and when you see Amy congratulate her on this tremendous accomplishment! She is an absolute superstar in the world of aging services finance and without her guidance Collington’s financial health would have never gained the strength it possesses today.

All the best,

Marvell
