Prior to 1998, only 1 student had graduated from 9th grade in 38 years in the San Rafael Pacaya Uno village school

As of 2010, over 340 students have graduated from 9th grade

3 district clubs fund 60 of 66 scholarships at $100 per student per year. RC Coatepeque-Colomba funds 6

The success of Pacaya Uno led another village to start a secondary education program

The first graduating class was 2006 with 25 students

Currently about 40 students apply per year. 3 district clubs fund 30 of the 66 in

scholarships at $100 per student per year. The remainder are funded by RC Coatepeque-Colomba (22 Rotarians).

Trade School ScholarshipsTrade School Scholarships

Some graduating students from Pacaya Uno urged the Rotarians to offer scholarships to Trade School

The scholarships were established in 2002

Rotary club of Portland joined in to assist in 2004

More than 70 students have graduated from Trade school
