In colonial times, America was going to war against England. America wanted to be it’s own country. Many men had a meeting to write a document called
The Declaration of Independence which told England that America
wanted to be freed.Try to analyze the Declaration of
Independence and write down the date and the first sentence.

There was no electricity in colonial times. This meant that there were no power tools. Everything that you needed had to be made by
hand!
Not only have our tools changed, but so have our clothes! Put your mouse over the colonial
clothes and list what the names of the clothes were called. Are they the same clothes we wear
today?

In colonial America, only boys were allowed to go to school. Even though many girls could read, there were not allowed to go to school at all. Some
places in the colonies didn’t even have schools. This meant that parents would
teach their children how to read and write.
Now that you have learned all about
Colonial America, can you compare and
contrast how your life now is different from
colonial life?
