B. Hospital Benefits:Hospitals have access to Dashboard in order to receive ePCRs transmitted by EMS crews in the field. Improved access to completed EMS runs reports. Base Hospitals will be able to use ePCR data for QA, training activities, and CEU tracking.

MRMC currently uses the EMS Hospital Bridge to retrieve EMS trip sheets, which are then scanned into the patient Electronic Medical Record. The Trauma Department uses the PCR to enter patient pre-hospital data into the State and National Trauma Registries.

The records are uniform, legible, and easy to read, without the prior problems of no trip sheet, or faxed records which were of very poor quality and difficult to read.

All Electronic Patient Care records received are in a uniform format, regardless of third-party vendor utilized by the EMS Service.

We only receive care records on patients whose transport destination is our Mercy Regional Medical Center.

MRMC TRAUMA DEPARTMENT BENEFITS

• Prior to EMS Bridge we received approximately 60% EMS Run Sheets. That endeavor took time requesting the records then retrieving faxes.

• Presently receive approximately 95% EMS Run Sheets from > 10 Ground and Flight agencies.

• Data to Colorado & State Registry is more complete, allowing accurate revised probability of survival & TRISS calculations.

• The process of EMS patient care record retrieval is now smooth. We are able to abstract directly from the bridge record into our registry.

Present limitations include: Frequency of agency upload to the State web site. Since we began, many agencies have done more frequent submission to the State at our request. No capability at present for data viewing prior to arrival. State of Arizona uses the uniform method Statewide. The agency using ImageTrend software is able to provide immediate access to their patient care record. Many different 3rd party vendors in Colorado, which takes time to set up to flow into Image Trend Hospital Bridge.

Advantages include: Ability to view and print EKG strips, interventions, assessments, medications patients receive prior to arrival. Less possibilities for errors exist if record can be retrieved upon patient arrival, to use as a continuation of care. Photos from the scene such as vehicle damage, can also be uploaded to the bridge.

Prior to using the system we received approximately 60% EMS trip sheets. Currently we receive approximately 95% of EMS trip sheets. Trip sheets are more legible and complete.

Data submitted to the Colorado State Trauma Registry and National Trauma Data Bank is more complete, Revised Trauma Scores are Accurate.
