COLORFUL SUMMER AT WONDERLAND
2017
1. week - SCHOOL CLOSED (3. 7. -7. 7. 2017)
.
2. week (10.7. – 14.7.2017)
COLOURFUL EXPERIMENTS
There is something about colours that ignites the mind with curiosity. Naturally, science
experiments that involve colour exploration are always a hit with children. That’s a great
reason to get ready for the journey to the land of colours, experiments and endless fun! :)
DAY 1 Wonderful world of colours Colours are all around us. They can make us happy, sad, angry, and relaxed or give us energy...
There are primary colours, the secondary which are the result of the mixing two primary
colours. Also, there are hot and cold colours and even colours which are not colours at all...
Today we'll take a closer look to this vibrant world where we'll review, discuss and mix them.
Mixing, observing, learning - Primary and secondary colours
We'll use watercolours, transparent plastic cups, and paper towels. First, we will colour the
water using the primary colours, and after that, we will add a few drops of the other primary
colours. In that way we will find out which colours create new ones. To repeat what we
learned, we'll mix the colours on the paper towel wheels and discover their magic.
Jazzy colours we can eat! - Skittles rainbow
I believe that each of us (at least once) has seen a rainbow in the sky. How does it appear?
Where does it disappear? And how do beautiful colours blend into one another? We will make
our own rainbow on the plate with the help of the Skittles candies. All we'll need to do is put
the candies in a circle shape, pour them with the hot water and... the rainbow will appear!
DAY 2 Trip to the gallery "Pastelka"
We learned many things about the colours- which are hot and cold, how to make purple and
green, so today is a good opportunity to dive into another chromatic world. A world of
coloured pencils. ;) We'll go for a trip to the centre of the City, to visit an artist who is using
only colouring pencils for her beautiful drawings and illustrations.

Toys and decorations - 2 in 1 rainbow bottles
They're just amazing! We can play with them, put them in a window or to have them as a
decoration on the table. We can even shine a flashlight through them and make beautiful
patterns on the wall.
Instructions:
Fill the bottles with the water.
Add food colouring to each bottle and mix those secondary colours.
Add the glue or gel (usually it’s one bottle of glue or gel per bottle).
Add a lot of glitter.
Cover the bottle and shake for a while to incorporate the water, glue, and glitter.
DAY 3 Eruption of colours, part 1 - Volcano Nature is beautiful, wild and powerful. Today we'll discover its real power while we'll create
very own homemade eruptions with the volcano experiment. It's a magnificent science
experiment which is also a great learning game for curious, knowledge seeking kids.
Instructions:
Take a simple birthday party hat and cut
the tip of it off. Cut zig- zags in the top
with scissors.
In a jar about the same height (or a bit
shorter) than the hat, add the baking
soda, salt and add the food colouring. Mix
well.
Add a squirt or two of washing-up liquid
to the top of the mix.
Put the party hat on top of the jar and pour in the vinegar to cause a volcanic eruption!
Watch as the bubbles and gases erupt through the opening and ooze onto the table!
Enjoy the messy fun!
Eruption of colours, part 2 - Fireworks
Bringing fireworks indoors has never been easier! This fun project will allow us to make our
very own fireworks simply by mixing food colouring and oil and then slowly pouring the
mixture into water.
Instructions:
Add a few tablespoons of oil to a small container. Drop
food colouring droplets into the oil.
Use a fork to agate the oil and food colouring droplets to
create smaller droplets.
Very slowly, pour the oil with food colouring droplets
into a glass of warm water.
Wait and watch as the drops of food colouring make their
way to the water and create fireworks!
DAY 4 Magic in the bottle - Lava lamp Have you ever seen a lava lamp, or maybe you have one at home? It looks fancy and it's pretty
cool! Today's task will be to make a few of them in different colours.
Instructions:
Fill your bottle about two thirds of the way with oil and the rest of the way with water,
leaving about an inch free at the top.
Add several drops of food colouring.
Break an Alka- Seltzer tablet into pieces. Then drop a piece in and watch the magic.
As soon as the tablet hits the layer of water, it will start to fizz and the coloured water
will erupt!
The power of the nature - Ice and salt
What we'll need are 2 big blocks of ice (which we'll make a day before), salt and food colouring.
The only thing we have to do is mix the salt with the food colouring and sprinkle it over the
ice. During the next few minutes we'll become witnesses how the salt eats away the ice.
Simple, but beautiful.
DAY 5 Night sky in the jar - Nebula Summer time is always connected with the warm nights and beautiful starry sky. Looking at
the stars is one of the most common activities during the summer nights. Unfortunately, we
will not be able to observe the night sky during the working hours of the preschool, but we
can place the stars in a jar.
Instructions:
Fill your glass jar with a little water.
Add a little tempera paint and stir.
Add cotton balls and then glitter.
Keep adding layers of water, tempera
paint, cotton balls and glitter, pressing
down the cotton balls with a spoon
until you reach the top.
Screw on the lid and nebula jar is all set!
Game: Red, red, blue / black, black, white /… (The same like Duck, duck, goose)
Song: "If you're wearing… red, blue, etc. (The tune of "If you’re happy and you know it".) If you are wearing red, shake your head If you are wearing red, shake your head If you are wearing red Then please shake your head If you are wearing red, shake your head
If you are wearing blue, touch your shoe If you are wearing green, bow to the queen If you are wearing yellow, shake like Jell- O If you are wearing black, pat your back If you are wearing brown, turn around
3.week (17.7. – 21.7.2017)
Under the sea world
The summer and the holidays are the best periods of time to get to know something more about water and everything else connected to it. This week we are going to look at water thoroughly. We will peep under the seas‘ and greater ocean's‘ surface, meet various creatures who live there, talk about water fairytale beings, explore the beach and sand but also find out all the states water can take and we will talk about the importance of water for human life. We will also learn some new songs about seas and fishing and have a good time together! We are going to drink lots of water and if the weather allows, we will play with water outside – swim, splash about in water and enjoy everything that water can offer to us.
DAY 1 Salt water X fresh water
The very first day of our underwater travelling we will look at the map of the world and find out, how much water it contains. There is much more water in the world than there is land and most of this water is salty. So we will taste the salty water and compare it with the fresh water, which we know from our ponds and rivers. Then we will put on our imaginary swimming goggles and take a look under the water. We will meet lots of animals and plants there – those who live just below the surface but also those who live very deep down, at the very bottom of the sea, where eternal darkness and coldness reign. We will also learn some new songs called: „Have you ever gone a fishing“, „Down by the bay“ and „Baby Shark“.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqiudgefoWo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wa4rMNghtVg
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPZKFpZs8b4
During our craft workshop we will make a shark from a wooden spoon and felt and in the afternoon we will examine the water by touch – we will create an ocean from water gel beads and sink our hands and feet in there. We will also play a fishing game to help build our motor skills and sense of touch.
DAY 2 A visit of the Sea World Prague
The second day we will visit the Sea World in Holešovice that is awaiting us. There we will meet nearly everything we can think of when we think of the sea realms. We will sink into a water empire full of fish, shells, cliffs, corals, seaweed and much more. But we will not just observe – we will take papers and coloured pencils with us and colour our favourite fish. Then, when we are back at the preschool, we will finish these using watercolours, sand and colourful stones.
http://www.morsky-svet.cz/
DAY 3 The home of water goblins and mermaids
There are real seas and mythical seas. In those real seas, one can find; fish, octopuses, dolphins, seashells or jellyfish. In those other ones – the fairytale ones – we can meet also other creatures: mermaids, gods, water goblins, Krakens and various other water deity. Today we will talk about all of them. We will see how they look like, why are they so extraordinary and how they differ from us – people. We will read a fairytale The Little Mermaid and listen to the song from it’s Disney’s version called „Under the Sea“.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GC_mV1IpjWA
Afterwards we ourselves will turn to sea creatures. We will create our own fish tail and put it on so we will become half people and half fish. The girls will turn to mermaids, the boys to sea princes and sea kings.
But if we have such a fish tail how is it possible to move? Of course we can swim, but on the land there is only one possibility – to jump. So we will organize a competition for all undersea creatures in jumping. As a reward a refreshing colourful fairytale drink will await us.
DAY 4 The sea at the Poles
Most of us have already swum in the sea. It was summer, the sun was shining, the sea was warm and sand on the beach was radiating heat. But there are seas, which are covered with eternal ice and snow, everywhere there are ice floes floating on which, from time to time,
we can meet a polar bear. The only ship that can sail to these places is an icebreaker. All others would get stuck in between the ice. Again we will look at the world map to get to know where such cold seas are to be found and we will look at the pictures of these freezing places. At the North Pole live the polar bears, at the South pole the penguins. So we will watch the animated song called „5 Polar Bears“
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2R0UayfUVQ
and because we need some warmth after all this frost, we will set ourselves in motion with the favourite song of all the kids called „Penguins Attention“.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEQVWivU8Dg
Also our art workshop will be dedicated today to ice – we will paint using colourful ice cubes.
When it freezes, the water turns to ice very quickly and fish, which don´t manage to hide deeper freeze together with it. To learn more about this state of matter and also to support development of our motor skills, we will play at rescuers and explore the melting of ice at the frozen sea model. While our frozen sea will be melting we will be, using a tool called a pipettes, sucking out all the water and rescuing one sea creature after the other.
Afterwards in the garden we will play the game called „Melting icefloe“ and will be again rewarded with our fairytale drink.

DAY 5 Frolic with sand
Seas and oceans does not mean just water, animals and plants but also the sand. Maybe we have already been to some sand beach, where we buried ourselves in the sand up to our neck and we dug the deep holes in it. But what actually is sand? Do we know that sand is billions of tiny little crushed stones? Today we will learn how does sand come to be, who lives in it and what can we use it for.
During our art workshop we will build a castle using puffy sand paints which will swell up in front of our eyes. Afterwards we will make sand plasticine in which we will hide and seek various seshells, conches and scallops.
At the beach we can also meet sea turtles and find their eggs which are in danger of flooding because of the rise of the level of seas due to global warming. If we feel like it we can play at little biologists or rescuers and very carefully, using tweezers, remove little turtle eggs from
danger to the safer places. (see picture)
To stretch our bodies after such an activity full of concentration, we will play an outside game; searching for shells and sea treasures hidden all over the garden.
4. week (24.7.-28.7.2017)
FOUR ELEMENTS
Summer is the perfect time for outdoor science and backyard learning. During this week we
will turn our backyard into an outdoor laboratory for studying the natural world. Inspired by
the four Greek classical elements of Air, Fire, Earth and Water we will talk, explore, experiment
and create. We will experience an approach to science by getting dirt from the ground,
learning how fire works, observing the states of water and getting plenty of ¨air study”. We
will also create and design using different materials and techniques.
DAY 1 Trip to Toulcův Dvůr
We will start our week with an outdoors day trip to a farm in the middle of the city where we
can enjoy one of the beautiful programs they prepared for us. We will be able to take care of
the little cubs born during the spring, feeding them or learning about their characteristics and
needs.
http://www.toulcuvdvur.cz/vzdelavani/programy-pro-skoly/programy-pro-ms
DAY 2 The Earth
Planet Earth is really interesting and a very beautiful place. We have mountains, hills, rivers,
meadows and woodland; when one looks underfoot, it is possible to notice a flowerbed, lawn,
mud puddle, sand and other interesting things.
Our day will revolve around the earth, doing some scientific research and some art and games
with the earth as a theme.
Activity 1: digging in the sandpit, what can we find?
− Materials: shovels, buckets, strainers, magnifying glasses...
− Process: a) dig and shift the sand and explore the different kind of sand, their colours, the stones, grass around the box...
b) talk about what we discovered
Activity 2: plant some seeds

- Process: a)cut the egg boxes in flower shape, one for each kid
b) paint it
c) glue to the straw
d) let it dry
e) put in the garden, planters, windows...to decorate
Activity 4 (afternoon): game Higher than the ground
The leader of the game stands in front, the rest of the participants stand in a row behind him.
As soon as the leader screams out “higher than the ground’’ each participant tries to find a
place where to step higher than the ground while the leader tries to catch them. The child
who is
caught becomes the new leader of the game.
DAY 3 Fire
The sun in the morning shows up on one side of the sky, shines the whole day and disappears
on the other side of the sky. When the sun sets, darkness falls and we turn on artificial lighting:
the fire. Fire needs three things in order to burn: oxygen, fuel, and heat. Fire creates light,
heat, and smoke by a rapid chemical reaction called combustion.
We will spend the whole day exploring and knowing a bit more about this fascinating element.
Activity 1: Lighting a candle
- Materials: matches, candles, candle holder
- Process: a) A short conversation about the danger of
fire; explaining the meaning of the words “candle”, “candle
light”, and “matches”; what could happen if a burning candle
is left unguarded.
b) we light one candle inside a room and the
other one outside.
c) we observe the candles differently and the
movement of a burning candle flame
Activity 2: Fire breathing dragon craft
- Materials: toilet paper rolls, green paint, pom poms, eyes, red, orange and yellow
tissue paper, scissors, glue, brushes.
- Process: a) paint the toilet rolls and let dry
b) glue, pom poms and eyes
c) cut and glue the tissues stripes
Activity 3 (afternoon): fireworks painting
- Materials: toilet paper rolls, paint colours, large paper
- Process: a) cut some lines in one side of the toilet rolls
b) prepare some plates with painting colours and use the rolls as brushes
creating the firework effect
DAY 4 Air
We constantly look through the air but we can not see it. We feel the air when the wind blows
in our face. Thanks to the airflow, we are able to feel different smells, hear noises or see
objects moving. When we inhale our chests enlarge, but within an exhale they flatten because
we breathe the air. The air is all around our planet and protects the earth from the sun rays.
During this day we will learn a bit more about the air, during some experiments and some fun
crafts that will help us to understand the whole meaning of air.
Activity 1: air is all around
- Materials: plastic bags, windmills, fan...
- Process: we have to experiment and encourage children to guess how to move a
windmill or how can we fill a plastic bag with air. We make them inhale deeply through their
noses and exhale strongly through their mouths. We talk how the movement of the air creates
wind.
Activity 2: The strength of the air
- Materials: balloons, wooden board
- Process: inflate the balloons, play with them and talk about their weight, try to
explode the different ways: stepping on them, squeezing them, and then standing on top with
a wooden board.
Activity 3: Blowing painting spinner
- Materials: cardboard circles, construction paper, paints, straws, thin rope, glue,
scissors
- Process: a) leave a bit paint different colours on the cardboard
b) blow with a straw and let dry
c) cut 2 circles and glue to the cardboard, one each side
d) poke two holes right in the center of the circles
e) run the rope through the holes and tie a knot and play!
Activity 4 (afternoon): water bottle wind spirals
- Materials: plastic bottles, water-colours, scissors
- Process: a) paint de plastic bottles with water-colours and let dry
b) cut in spiral shape
c) hang somewhere in the garden
DAY 5 Water
The water starts its journey from the sea where it rises as a fog and creates clouds high up in
the sky. The clouds pour down when it rains. The water is absorbed by soil, as well as it flows
through springs and rivers back to the seas and oceans. The water can be a liquid and it can
move; it can be hard as ice, snow or as white frost; the water can be light as mist, fog or clouds
. the water does not have a certain shape; it adjusts to the shape of the mug it is poured in.
We are going to explore about the different characteristics of the water during the last day of
the week. We will observe it, play with it and use for our daily craft.
Activity 1: rain water
- Materials: watering cans with water
- Process: we go outside with the watering can and as if it was rain we pour the water
in different surfaces (ground, pavement, slide, grass, wooden floor...) we observe and talk
about if the water soaks, stays as a puddle, flows...
Activity 2: Soap sea foam sensory play
- Materials: big container, water, dish soap, corn starch, watercolors, different objects
to put in
- Process: we fill up a big container with soapy sea foam water and some objects that
will either sink or float and we play with them.
Activity 3: water-colour- salt painting
- Materials: paper, white glue, salt, water-colours, brushes
- Process: a) in the paper with trace the picture we want
b) we put the glue on the trace
c) we pour salt on the glue and leave dry
d) with paint with water-colour on top of the salt
Activity 4 (afternoon): bubble blower painting
- Materials: bubble mixture, food colouring, bubble blower, cups, large paper
- Process: a) tip a little bubble mixture into each cup – one for each colour, and then add a
little food colouring.
b) blow bubbles all over your paper.
5. week
(31. 7. - 4. 8. 2017)
Water fun game week
DAY 1
Water slide
Water is the most abundant element found on earth. Also, water is one of our basic necessities for staying alive. However, fresh water resources are limited. Thus, children should be taught about the importance of water right from early childhood. But they should also know about fun experiments and games you can do with water. For example you can have an awesome time with a water slide.
Shaving cream fun
DAY 2
A trip to Hostivař
The Hostivař Reservoir is situated in a beautiful and quiet location in the middle of the
Hostivař Forest Park. Only a few minutes drive from the center of Prague you will find a
natural swimming pool with the largest water area in Prague, which spans one of the most
beautiful natural areas in the capital city. We are going to have a great time with a treasure
hunt in the water and with castle building on the beach.
DAY 3
Car wash fun
There are many ways to teach children about water and its importance. The aim of this theme is to show children what great fun it is to play with water. Car Wash activity is fun for summer's hot days. There are two ways we can do this. First by letting the children help wash our school bus, or we can set up a bucket with wash water, and one for rinsing and let the children wash some of their toy cars. Another fun game we will play is water ballon baseball.
Water ballon baseball
DAY 4
Spray Art
We will fill a spray bottle 3/4 full with water and we will place a small amount of paint (powdered or liquid) into the water. If we use too much or do not shake well the paint would clog up the spray bottle. We will use at least three different bottles, with three different colors. Then we will place a large piece of paper on the floor, on an easel, on a wall or fence outside. The children will spray the colored water on the paper and when they are done, we will let it dry.
Spray art experiment
DAY 5
Bubble Art
We will supply the children with a bowl of bubble mix in it and a straw with a hole near the top to prevent children from sucking the soap up. We will have the children blow into the straw while it is in the bowl creating bubbles. Then, we will have the children place a drop of food coloring on the top of the bubbles and quickly press a piece of paper on the top of the bubbles to create bubble prints.
Huge bubbles competition
6. week
(7. 8. – 11.8. 2017)
Superheroes
Heroes and superheroes. We all love them and we all want to be like them. Even as small
children we all wanted to be heroes and maybe even dreamt
about becoming superheroes one day! Wouldn’t it be amazing?
Superpowers, masks and costumes, secrets and fighting the bad
of this world. Your dream may come true this week as
superheroes are all we’re going to talk about! Get your capes
ready, here we go!
Day 1
Say hello to superheroes! Hello and welcome to the world of superheroes! Today we are going to talk about the most
famous superheroes! Do you know their names? Spiderman, superman, batman… What do
they look like? Are they only boys or do we have some female superheroes too? We are going
to talk about their superpowers and their stories and pick our favorite one! Then we’ll use our
hands to create a portrait of our favorite superhero for a little arts and crafts time. For the
afternoon, we have some superheroes stories ready! Bring your favorite book if you have one!
Day 2
Trip to Mirakulum Now we know a lot about superheroes and it’s time to become one! We’re going to visit the
very exciting and fun park Mirakulum. http://www.mirakulum.cz/ where we can show our
superpowers and enjoy our day. Mirakulum offers many attractions, such as rope park, mazes,
swings, mini zoo, and more! Everyone will find their interest there and we are sure this will be
a wonderful experience. Mirakulum is in Milovice and we’ll get there in approximately 1 hour
by bus. See you there!
Day 3
Superpowers
Back from our trip, we are going to talk about the superpowers. If you could have one, what
would it be? What would you use it for? Is there something you could do for the world with
this superpower? Could someone use their superpowers in a bad way?
We are also going to sign our superhero song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6HXzx9YS58
Day 4
Clothes make the hero
Our week is almost over, but don’t worry, we saved some of our best activities for the end of
the week. Every superhero has his unique clothes and it makes him even more special. Since
we all became heroes this week, why not to make our capes too? We are going to use old t-
shirts (don’t forget to bring one!) to make a super-amazing cape. Don’t forget to put the letter
that your name begins with so that your co-heroes can recognize you? Do you know which
one it is? If you forgot your t-shirt, don’t worry, we’re making paper masks too!
http://missmaesdays.com/its-a-bird-its-a-plane-its-the-easiest-home-made-cape-youve-
ever-seen/#comment-1929
Day 5
Superhero carnival
Our week is coming to an end but look how much fun we had! Isn’t this the perfect time to
celebrate? Let’s have a little carnival and use our capes and masks and maybe have a little
superhero party? We’re going to paint our faces, dress up and have lot of fun. We can also
test our superpowers for the last time in a little obstacle course in our garden. It is supposed
to be a secret, but as we all our co-heroes now, we’ll share it with you – you may get some
super-medal at the end of this week, but shhh! Don’t tell anyone.
7. week
(21.8. – 25.8. 2017)
SUMMER THEATER WEEK
As we know, theater has been part of our history for centuries. In this week, we will talk
about the theater and its characteristics, having the opportunity to become actors and
actresses developing our most creative side. Through drama, children can develop different
skills such as language, communication, creativity, confidence, and values such as tolerance
or empathy by putting themselves in the shoes of characters.
DAY 1
Theater in our school
We will have theater in our school with summer theme played by Ms. Míša. Later the
children will share the experience with their classmates. Who were the main characters?
What was the story about? What we liked the most and why? They could make a nice
drawing of the trip.
DAY 2
Emotions
The second day will be focused on expressing feelings and emotions. We will learn some
vocabulary such as 'happy', 'sad', 'sleepy', 'excited', 'angry', 'scared', 'surprised',
'embarrased'... We will talk about problem resolution, how we feel, how can we help our
classmates to feel better. How can we act when someone is scared? And when someone
crying? We will put it into practice by playing some role games. For instance, someone shows
a facial expression and the rest has to guess which emotion is, and how we can help.
Also, we will practice the next song following the instructions.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4WNrvVjiTw
Lyrics:
If you're happy happy happy clap your hands. x3 If you're angry angry angry stomp your feet. x3 If you're scared scared scared say, "Oh no!" x3 If you're sleepy sleepy sleepy take a nap. x3 If you're happy happy happy clap your hands. X3 As craftwork, we can make some masks with different facial expressions. For example, they could be based on characters of film 'Inside out'.
DAY 3
Body language
On Wednesday, we will continue with the body language. How can we express without
speaking? We will practice some movements: greetings, crying, walking, jumping, running...
we will become mime artists by touching a wall, pulling a rope or smelling flowers. Also, we
will play some funny games: statues, walking like... (penguins, kangaroos, princes and
princesses, running in slow motion, ect.), or dancing imitating the leader.
Our craft will consist on making a miniature theater from a recycled box.
DAY 4
Characters of children’s stories
On Thursday, we will think about the typical characters on children stories: fairies, witches,
dwarves, ogres, giants, etc.
We will create a puppet workshop using different materials: toilet paper rolls, cooking gloves,
wooden sticks...
DAY 5
Drama
After a review of all concepts we learnt (feelings, emotions, body language, typical
characters), last day will be focused on drama. The teacher will tell the very well known story
'The three little pigs' while children represent it. In groups, children can acquire the role of
pigs or the wolf.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtP83CWOMwc
The three little pigs story
After watching the video on Internet, they will represent the story again with puppets we
made the day before. It will be very fun!
8. week
(21.8. – 25.8.2017)
The secrets of grandpa's treasure chest
There is nothing better than to wonder into the granpa's loft on a rainy day. You can surely find many terasures worth exploring there. The loft smells of fresh hay that awakens our imagination. We take a look around and we can see a pair of old boots, horse gear, whip and all the way in the corner a big mystical wooden treasure chest. What can be hidden in such a chest? What did your grandad put in their years ago? Let’s have a look together.
DAY 1 Toys and games of our grandads
We will slowly with huge excitement lift the lid of our treasure chest. On top of the chest are many oldfashioned photos. They picture children happily playing outside. The children do not have mobile phones or flashing and noisy toys but they seem happy none the less. What games did those children used to play? And what did they play with when they did not have modern toys! Many games children still like to play and we will try them too. You have surely played hopscotch before but did you try to play Drápky or roling the wheel? Games with a ball, skipping rope, marbles or elastic band were very popular and we will try as many of them as possible.
DAY 2
Skanzen Kouřim
Today we have dug deaper into our chest and we have found in it a few coarsely cut any by the looks of them many times touched wooden blocks. What were they for? We know. Those were our grandad's toy wooden blocks that his dad made for him. Our grandad used them to build wonderful houses out of them. But how do the houses look like when grandad was still a little boy? We will find out in Kouřim Skanzen. There we will be able to see a big barn with a straw roof, where people worked and socialised, school classroom, bedrooms, black kitchen and many more interesting things. If the weather will favour us we will prepare a picning in the skanzen grounds. We are looking forward to the trip already.
DAY 3 Straw bowl for bread and rolls We have looked into our treasure chest for the third time and close to the bottom we have found something made of straw. It is a straw bowl. This bowl used to be used for bread baking. Making bread is not difficult and we will try it too. We will try to plat a roll or make a
knot for Jidáš (traditional Easter roll). The whole preschool will smell of freshly baked bread.
DAY 4 Fairy tales of our grandads
While looking deeper into the treasure chest we have came across a beutifully illustrated story book. Most of our grandad's did not have a TV at home when they were little. Instead of watching TV in the evening their parents used to read them stories or they would just tell them stories that their mums and dads used to tell them when they were little. We will look at some of the traditional stories together. Some of them might be with a little twist. We would also like to ask you to bring your favourite story book to share with your friend during the day. It will not be only sitting down reading books day. We will have many story inspired games and activities ready for the children too.
DAY 5 “Grandad’s carnival”
We have found many interesting things in the treasure chest this week and we have tried many things together. Many items of clothing that used to be worn in the times of our grandparents were brought to light by our hands. Today we will air them properly and we will
organize a costumed fun day. Grandads and grandmas loved story telling in the evenings so our door will also be open to fairytale costumes of your choice. We will have a little disco. Who will fancy it can have their face painted and as last good bye we will play again some of the games we have learned on Monday.
