Colour Schemes

Magazine

Existing Products• Many film magazines featuring thrillers or horrors on

the front have very dark colour schemes, often using blacks and greys.

• This one for example is purely black and grey, with small amounts of red used for some of the text. The character is wearing dark clothes and the background is a faded black and white setting, making him stand out. This is a similar effect to the one I want for my magazine as it reinforces the genre and highlights the seriousness of the plot.

Existing Products• This ‘Total Magazine’ cover is

purely in black and white other than the header and small amounts of text. This suggests that the film plot is serious and definitely not light hearted, much like my narrative. The way the name of the film is written in white makes it stand forward of the rest of the cover and is one of the first things our eyes are drawn to. This is something I can take into account when creating my magazine cover.

My Colour Scheme• The colours that I feel will

suit my magazine cover are variations of black and grey. I have also decided that red is fitting with my theme as it will allow certain features to stand out. I feel these colours link with the thriller genre well and infer that the film featured on the front of the magazine is related to death and danger.

My Colour Scheme

• I have done a small amount of research into colour connotations and have taken note of information found on http://www.color-wheel-pro.com/color-meaning.html • These colour connotations

relate well to my film narrative and will help me decide on final colours to use on my magazine cover.

Relates to the murder and the power that the murderer has.

The death and evil within the narrative.

Innocence of the murder victims.
