    complex Columbus is a true landmark at

    the edge of Almere Poort. The supermarkets

    green roof, the spacious setup, the lush green

    area combined with the architectural design all

    blend in with the natural surroundings and the

    modern Columbuskwartier neighbourhood.

    Columbus is surrounded by a lively waterside

    square. The square is home to a full-service

    supermarket with a liquor store and florist. The

    square provides easy access to your car in the

    residents-only parking garage.

    A green landmark

    The 30 apartments are spread across four

    floors and vary in both size and layout.

    All of the apartments are finished to the

    highest standards.

  • The carefully detailed rendering on the staggered

    facade is a remarkable highlight. These same

    facades feature integrated structural planters with

    greenery and gorgeous varnished mahogany window

    frames. Each part of the facade is different and the

    interplay of the facades creates a striking effect.

  • Not only does the shopping and residential

    complex appeal because of its elegance, it also

    meets the most modern requirements and the

    strictest sustainability standards. These values

    are reflected across the complex. For example

    we chose to use recycled concrete, sustainably

    sourced wood and the entire building is lit by

    LED bulbs.

    Aside from offering a great view, the

    supermarkets green roof also offers natural

    insulation. It forms a buffer against rain water

    and filters CO2 out of the air. The building is

    energy-efficient because the heat from the

    supermarket is recycled. Modern insulation

    ensures a constant and pleasant temperature.

    Solar panels on the roof produce energy to help

    light the communal areas.

    Columbus is Buns most ambitious and prestigious project: a project

    of which we are more than proud. With this project, we want to

    demonstrate how we as a business can contribute to a sustainable

    society. We looked at the function of the project in the (local) area, but

    also at the way we can offer the buildings future residents the best

    possible quality of life. This is reflected in the architectural design

    and the high-quality standard of the apartments and the building.
