01. Introduction VTS is a service enabled through positioning technologies including GPS, GPRS and remote telemetry with application

software, wireless communications to track, control and manage the of vehicles in your fleet. With a GPS device installed in

your vehicles, VTS will empower you to track the exact locations of your vehicles and effectively manage them. The

information is interfaced online or through SMS and could be accessed from your mobile phone.

In this the Columbus fleet management device is installed in the yellow bus, the device receives signals from the GPS satellites and calculate its time and position. The acquired time and position is transferred to our remote server via GPRS, through the SIM card in the device. 

The positions and time are securely stored in the server, which can be accessed by Columbus applications.  The Columbus has desktop, mobile and web applications to monitor the status of the fleet.

03. The Application The Columbus has desktop, mobile and web applications to monitor the status of the fleet. 

03.01. The Desktop Application The Columbus desktop application is the primary and the most powerful application for monitoring/tracking. The screenshot of a Columbus console is as shown below. 

 

The desktop application is capable of generating various reports as shown in the next pages, which can be customized to match the existing reporting format.  Route History/Play Back Columbus Tracking keeps the history of the vehicle's movements accurately. The users can play the vehicle's movements for the past few days (up to 3 months) and find out the exact nature of movement or route taken by the vehicle. The route history reports are also downloadable in PDF/Excel/XML and Google Earth (KML) formats.  Fencing VTS has strong fencing capabilities. Users can draw an area on the map and then configure alerts if the fence is breached. Alerts VTS has many types of alerts like Over speed, Idle time, Way point reach, Area Reach and Exit, Route breach, Fence Idle, Scheduled alerts, Cross District, Cross state etc., The alerts are generated by the use of latest technologies like Complex Event Processors. This ensures that the alerts are generated

After entering the login credentials you will be directed to the monitoring page, where you will be able to monitor the status and routes of the vehicle up to the last 60 minutes.

  01. The Columbus Home Screen The Columbus Home Screen is from where you navigate to various features of the application.   02. The Asset List The Asset list shows the Vehicle Number and model associated with the account.  03. Live Tracking The live tracking is used to locate the current position or the last known position of the vehicle. The vehicle is plotted on the google maps, which can be panned and zoomed.  04. Reports The reports section in the home screen is used to know various details about the chosen vehicle. The repost section shows the following details about a vehicle.   (a) Maximum Speed   (b) Average Speed   (c) Total Distance   (d) Total Time

What is GPS? Global Positioning System (GPS) is a constellation of 24 satellites orbiting the earth. These satellites use radio signals to broadcast location information. A GPS tracking device (GPS receiver) on the ground picks up the signals from the satellites to determine the location of an entity anywhere in the world and gives parameters like time, latitude, longitude, altitude etc.,  What is VTS? VTS is a GPS Enabled tracking service which can be used for tracking fleets and assets.  Does VTS have any hardware or software components? Yes, VTS has both hardware and software components. A VTS GPS enabled hardware device will be installed on your vehicle. This device will have preset configurations to send location details to the state of art VTS software server. The VTS software server then will process the data and present the vehicle details through web, SMS and mobile view.  Do I need a computer to use VTS GPS Vehicle and Asset Tracking? May be, not. But it is better to have a computer with a broad band connection of at least 256 kbps to enjoy the full benefits of VTS like vehicle management, route history map and a lot of other informative reports.  Does VTS have navigation options (like GARMIN GPS Navigator)? VTS is not an in vehicle Navigation device. It is a remote vehicle management tool.  Does VTS GPS Vehicle Tracking hardware use any Mobile Phone SIM cards? Yes. We do use a GPRS enabled Mobile phone SIM card along with the hardware.  Does VTS provide fencing options for my vehicle? Absolutely. There are options to create and assign Area, Way Point and Route fences.  How do I know the latest position of the vehicle without a computer? Just call up our VTS Interactive Voice Response system and this will reply to you with the latest vehicle position as SMS.  Does VTS provide different alerts like over speed, idle time etc.? Yes. VTS provides about 7 different alerts.  What other features does VTS provide? * VTS can supply you with information like Main Battery Voltage, Air Condition Status, Ignition Status and **Fuel Level, **Two Way voice" communications facility.  Which map do you use for Vehicle Tracking in VTS? We use Google Map which is the most preferred map by our customers. In addition to this we also provide Yahoo and VTS OSM maps.
