Horizon View / VDI Deployment

Deployment of the VMware Horizon View virtual desktop environment.

Horizon View goes beyond VDI to provide end users with one place to

securely access all their desktops, applications, and online services from any

device, everywhere. With Horizon View, we can offer our customers greater

simplicity, security, speed, and scale in delivering on-premises virtual

desktops and applications while offering cloud-like economics and elasticity

of scale.

Why/Outcome This service offering includes the design, integration and knowledge transfer of an

automated desktop delivery consumption model, based on VMware Horizon View.

We will enable the customer to provide flexible application provision models for

their users as well as elastic sizing of desktops. Horizon View simplifies and eases

management and fast deployment of virtual desktops.

Onsite and remote operations

• Kickoff meeting: consultant discusses with stakeholders on-site how and where the solution should be integrated and deployed.

• Afterwards we analyze the information off site, and come back with options how the product can be best integrated and deployed.

• Deployment of 1 Horizon pod. • Installation of 2 View connection servers. • Integration of existing vSphere environment. • Installation of 2 Unified Access Gateways. • Installation of external SSL certificates if they are

available. • Installation of internal SSL certificates if they are

available. • Demo pool creation.

Additional options

The following solutions can be added at additional cost:

• Greenfield vSphere for Horizon installation.

• vSAN add-on.

• Dynamic Environment Manager (Windows profile

management).

• VMware App Volumes application management.

Prerequisites:

the following components and respective access mechanisms need to be in place: • Two domain joined Windows 2019 servers as

connection servers (one static IP per server). • Proper network configuration (working DNS with

forward and reverse lookup and DHCP infrastructure). • vCenter Server • VMware ESXi hosts capable to run the View and

Desktop workload. • for best results: separated vSphere 6.5+ infrastructure

for View • Access to vSphere infrastructure to enable UAG

deployment (depending on the deployment of the UAG 1-3 static IP addresses).

• Active Directory.

For remote tasks and support proper remote access, e.g. via VPN or VDI is required. Personnel/SME that have to attend
