Come, Follow Me-For Primary: 2019 NewTestament
January 7–13: Matthew 1; Luke 1
“Be It unto Me according to Thy Word”Younger Children
Lesson Packet for Latter-day Saints by LovePrayTeach.com
Preparation:When preparing these lesson helps we follow the lesson outline closely. We will never vary from the
doctrine taught in the lesson outline. It is important that you always read through the lesson and all of the
suggested scriptures. Then read through the helps we have provided and pray about which activities will
be the most beneficial to your class. As always follow the guidance of the Spirit. The thing I love most about
the Come, Follow Me format is that it is designed for the kids to take an active role in their learning. We
have designed our lesson helps to help facilitate a lesson full of thought and discussion. In your preparation
be sure to leave time for the kids to share ideas, questions, and experiences!
You will only have 20 minutes to teach, so choose which part of the scriptures you'd like to teach and use
the activities below to help you.
Character Cutouts:You can use these images to help you tell the stories in the lesson. Print them on cardstock so they are
studier. Hang them on the board or attach a popsicle stick to each and use them as puppets. Give the
children turns to retell the stories using the puppets!

• bow your head
• close your eyes
• fold your arms
• feet on the floor (or kneel)
• say the prayer (for Simon Says, just have the children pretend to say a prayer
by moving their mouths up and down quietly)

Prayer Activities:Little children need many reminders of what to do when we pray! Print off these prayer cards and cut them
out. After talking about Elisabeth and Zacharias, show the cards one by one and have the children do the
action on the card as you teach them about prayer. A fun game to go with this would be Simon Says! Hold
up a card when you say "Simon Says ... bow your head". If you don't say "Simon Says" and the child
moves, then they need to sit down. You'll probably need to play this a few times in a row for the children
to understand how to play.

Weekly Reading Handout:Give each child one of the handout's below as they leave the classroom. We will be including these each
week so use them however you'd like! You can have the children bring them back to class each Sunday or
give them to their parents for a fun activity during family scripture time that week!
Ideas from the Friend Magazine:Ideas from the Friend Magazine:"Caleb's Bedtime Prayer""Caleb's Bedtime Prayer"
"A Prayer to Heavenly Father""A Prayer to Heavenly Father"
"Elisabeth and Zacharias""Elisabeth and Zacharias"
Poster:To help the children learn how Jesus Christ is the son of God, show them this
picture. Have them repeat the phrase. If you have a class that can read, cover the
words and see if they can still say it. If you'd like to do a coloring activity, have the
children color the front of the black and white copy and then have them draw a
picture of their parents on the back.
If you're going to use the coloring page from this lesson in the manual, you could cut out the squares
before class. Pass out one of the worksheets below with crayons and glue sticks. Help the children put
the squares in the right columns.
