T he Goldfarb family’s enduring relationship with winemaking originated in the backyard of their Bel Air estate. Wanting to explore an opportunity that the whole family could enjoy together, the Goldfarbs carved out a

wine cellar into the hillside of their property to complement the 2 acres of grapes they had planted.

What followed was a truly inspiring, organic and most satisfying experience. Along with his wife and two children, Barry set out to discover an opportunity where he could be involved in every stage of the winemaking process, share the fruits of his labor with others on a larger scale, and not be too far removed from his home.

As a seasoned entrepreneur, Barry discovered the beauty, sense of community, and quality of wines that distinguished Agua Dulce Winery. With all the amenities available to him, including the vineyard’s gracious estate home and tasting room, Barry had an abundance of places to entertain friends and family who came to visit.

Owning a winery has changed not only his life but that of his family, who are involved in all aspects of the business, from giving tours to hosting holiday events. The wine business is more than a business—from the earth to the vine to the finished bottle—and the opportunity to grow grapes and share that with so many others has brought his family great experiences with the people they met.

Nestled in the Sierra Pelona Valley region of Southern California and justnortheast of Santa Clarita is Agua Dulce, a countryside retreat right in L.A.’sbackyard. Located 35 miles from Los Angeles and two miles from thetown’s central shops, restaurants and local airport, Agua Dulce Winery feels a thousand milesaway without sacrificing accessibility.

Rubbing shoulders with Agua Dulce Winery to the north and west is the Angeles National Forest. Characterized by untamed rivers and pine-filled canyons, this spectacular scenery also offers nearly 700 miles of trails to explore. That said, all levels of adventurers—from the meek to the bold—have been known to stop over for a glass of wine and good company. In fact, the famed Pacific Crest Trail runs directly through the estate’s vineyards, leading many to stray from their compass in search of a refreshing Chardonnay. Especially during the warm summertime months, Agua Dulce Winery can feel like a “hikers haven”—a sweet departure from the untrammeled terrain that lies ahead.

The land belonging to Agua Dulce Winery was declared an appellation in 2007 and is a distinction that can be proudly viewed on the bottles of the wines. A tradition that was first introduced in Chianti, Italy, in 1716, these exclusive and protected vineyard zones are used to help identify where the grapes for a specific wine are grown—as well as highlight where ideal soil and ideal weather have come together to create something special.

Originally built in 2000, this custom 5-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom residence evokes a sense of stately elegance from the moment the front portico comes into view. Supported by classic columns, the facade’s decorative crown extends forward to form a spacious and covered formal entry for receiving guests. The VineyardAbout the VineyardHome to more than a thousand vines per acre, the estate’s prized, 80-acre vineyard has been planted with six award-winning varietals: Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel. Each wine club member is given the special treat of having a single row of the vineyard dedicated to their name, a gesture that personalizes their experience with Agua Dulce Winery and with the land itself. Additionally, the vineyard produces three different blends and an exemplary Port.

TheWinerySince first being developed in 1999, the vision for Agua Dulce Winery has been to capitalize on what Mother Nature had already created, sparing no expense in setting the enterprise up for success so that it could rival with Napa Valley, Sonoma County and the rest of California’s famed wine country. Adopting an old-world approach, Agua Dulce Winery imported 75 acres of mature two-year-old vines from Italy, oak barrels from Hungary and France—their very shape critical to the flavor of the wine fermenting within—and implemented the most sophisticated irrigation system. Completely self-contained, the winery has continued to thrive since its first harvest back in 2001 and possesses the capacity to produce 25,000 cases of wine annually.

Agua Dulce Winery has since become a destination for all seasons—a gathering space playing host to 60,000 visitors annually and earning the title as the largest producing and operating winery in Los Angeles County. Whether for a wedding, a graduation party, or simply enjoying an alfresco meal on one of the outdoor picnic tables, locals and travelers alike escape to this slice of countryside living to celebrate life’s great moments.

Our WinesEach and every step of the winemaking process, from growing the grapes to applying labels to the bottles, is done right here on this fully operational estate. All wines are aged in a cellar and are sold daily in the tasting room, through the Internet, and directly to a growing wine club membership. Blessed with the natural soils of the unique Sierra Pelona Valley, the wines produced at Agua Dulce Winery have won multiple medals in several national wine competitions.

Agua Dulce Winery Reserve ChardonnayWe have handcrafted this special blend representing the cream of the crop grown here at our estate vineyard. This Chardonnay benefits from the cool evening breezes—making it a delightful Chardonnay to enjoy all year long.

2008 Agua Dulce Winery Cabernet SauvignonOur Cabernet drinks in the wonderful sunshine, warmth and brightness that Agua Dulce’s microclimate offers.

2009 Agua Dulce Winery Reserve MerlotOur Reserve Merlot combines refined tannins with oak & caramel fruity flavors not often found in Merlot. We aged the wine in Hungarian, French, and American oak barrels and blended all three together.

2009 Agua Dulce Winery Reserve ZinfandelOur Zinfandel is a great companion to a barbecue with the family, and will hold up wonderfully to the smoky taste of grilled meats and fish. A wonderful choice to add to anyone’s cellar and dinner table.

2009 Agua Dulce Winery Reserve SyrahTraditional blackberry flavor found in this Syrah makes this wine an excellent addition to any meal, bringing just the right amount of richness of flavor so desired in Syrah.

2009 Agua Dulce Winery Reserve SangioveseAgua Dulce soil is a perfect setting for this sun-loving wine. With canes growing 8-10 feet in each direction, this grape loves Agua Dulce’s mini-climate. The wine is earthy with hints of intense raspberry and sour cherry.

Our EventsBeyond serving the community as a fully operational winery and vineyard, offering daily wine tasting and guided tours, Agua Dulce Winery features a full calendar of events that honor popular holidays as well as significant stages of the winemaking process itself.

During the fall, guests can join in on the annual harvest grape-stomping party, a celebration that recreates the infamous I Love Lucy episode.

Daily Wine TastingWine tasting at Agua Dulce Winery includes tasting up to five award-winning wines and is conducted from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Horseshoes and Bocce BallPack a picnic basket, grab a bottle of wine, and head back to the Gazebo to enjoy Horseshoe Pits and the Bocce Ball Challenge Course, which hosts a competition every weekend.

Gourmet Barrel Tasting, Tour & Picnic LunchThis is a personally guided tour of the facility and includes an up-close view of the working vineyard and winery. Starting with an overview of the 90-acre farm, guests are then lead into the state-of-the-art cellar where they can taste wines directly from the barrel, including award-winning varietals. The tour concludes with a gourmet picnic lunch where guests receive a complimentary winemaker-signed wine glass to commemorate the experience. This offering is conducted on Saturdays and Sundays and requires advance reservations.

Private Group and Corporate Event HostingAgua Dulce Winery is available to host private and corporate events for all seasons, offering a full-service facility complete with exclusive use of VIP Rooms, tables, chairs, china, linens, glasses and catering partners. The concierge program can assist in customizing events of all sizes.

The RanchAnimal Habitat Rescue Ranch Agua Dulce Winery serves as the adopted home to a variety of farm animals including horses, dogs, sheep, llamas, goats, chickens, ponies and peacocks.
