WHAT IS IT?
A FUN, HIP, STYLISH series of dog-centric travel guidebooks, featuring luxury pet-friendly hotels, activities, resources and recommendations for each city. Visually lush, each collection will be rich with lifestyle photog-raphy. The design will be crisp and minimal: full page and double-truck, full bleed photographs as well as simple detail photo collages accented by airy text in sans serif fonts.
Our recommended rst six cities would be
WHO WOULD BUY IT?
The pet owner who travels with their pet (as a guide). The person who has a pet lover in their life (as a gift). The consumer who is drawn to the design, photography and aordable price-point.
WHAT MAKES YOU SO SURE?
There is nothing currently like this on the market.
This collection would be a unique oering in Travel, Pet and Local sections of any bookstore or online book retailer. This is a unique hybrid of upscale travel and pet-centric lifestyle book for a market that is yet untapped. This book not only caters to the desire of the target buyer to travel with their pet in an upscale fashion, it also appeals to the visual aesthetic and artistic sensibilities of this consumer. In this book the reader will nd architecturally interesting hotels, interiors designed by cutting edge designers, celebrity pet amenities, pet-friendly restaurants owned by renowned chefs, pet-centric trends, as well as a wealth of delicious, artistic detail images. Most importantly, this book will be the rst to feature artistic photographs of a variety of dogs and their people enjoying the pet-centric travel lifestyle.

According to the Travel Industry Association of America:
While the domestic hotel industry is currently experiencing an economic slowdown, there are some bright spots in the industry that this book ties to beautifully.
The ‘mid-upscale’, ‘upper-upscale’ and ‘luxury’ segments of the hotel market have created elaborate pet-friendly policies and programs to entice the leisure traveler in an eort to buer the loss of their ‘bread & butter’ guests from the business and corpo-rate sectors.
Many 4 and 5 star rated hotel prop-erties now realize as stated in the 2009 Ernst & Young Lodging Report, “Given the upper upscale segment’s reliance on the business traveler, it is becoming increasingly important for hotels in this segment to expand and adopt certain marketing initia-tives to mitigate a decline in corpo-rate and group demand."
Luxury hoteliers began creating these pet-friendly policies over the past three to ve years, but never promoted them aggressively. Now, in an attempt to replace lost revenue, hoteliers are emphasizing their niche marketing initiatives.
Very few distribution channels for this information exist. Currently, there is only one online pet-friendly booking engine that caters exclu-sively to the luxury, pet-friendly hotel segment. This book would create a bridge between the thou-sands of pet-friendly programs oered at luxury hotels and the 8 million Americans searching for them every year.
Current oerings in the major book-stores and online book retailers Pet and Travel sections are limited to books that do not appeal to an upscale traveler. These books rely on cartoon imagery to convey infor-mation and not one publication features a sophisticated photo essay. Other pet-travel books are entirely text without any photo-graphic representation.
