CHARLOTTE HALL Post 259 held their monthly BINGO program at the home on 14 May 2014. Al Elmond and Bob Levendusky were the

post 259 volunteers with much appreciated help from Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Whitworth and volunteer Joan Vogel. Thanks

to the Auxiliary for providing the snacks for the evening. The next BINGO will be 11 June 2014.

Pictures this month feature bearded Iris flowers growing in a swampy part of Coole Springs stream; Coole Springs

flowing from the ground; Coole Springs sign; volunteer Chuck Whitworth helping resident Harvey Greene; volunteer

Joan Vogel helping resident Joseph Golis; and resident 99 year old Conrad “Babe” Lederer who is a WWII Navy veteran

and just turned 99 on 18 May.

Helping hands are always welcome. The rewards are priceless from a very grateful group of heroes.

On the weekend of April 26, 2014 members from The American Legion Post 259 family, VFW Family

& other community volunteers volunteered their time for P.G. County Christmas-In-April program.

We built a 57 foot long handicap ramp, installed two sets of flood lights for the ramp, re-leveled the

pavers at the back door landing & performed house cleaning. We had a total of 14 volunteers with a

total of 148 volunteer man hours performing the tasks for the home owner.

The necessary funding for this project came from donations by organizations, businesses and

individual.

These donations were used to purchase the material for the Christmas-In-April house # 32, food and

beverages for all the volunteers.

The material cost for this project came to approximately $1293.00.
