Types of Commands• Drill Commands “Oral Order”

– Flight, Halt– Fall In (preparatory and execution are combined)

• Supplementary Commands (one unit of the element executes movement different from the other units or execute at different time)

– Continue the March– Stand Fast

• Informational Commands (no preparatory/execution command)

– Prepare for inspection– Dismiss the squadron

General Rules for Commands1. Leader in position of attention2. Military bearing3. Marching-leader must be in step4. CC faces troops when giving commands5. Sq CC gives command AS YOU WERE to revoke a

preparatory command. Note: individuals execute the movement to the best of their ability.

6. Commands given as the heel of foot strikes ground7. CC giving supplementary command—supplementary CC

gives command over right shoulder– Element leaders– Sq CC & Flt CC

Voice Characteristics

•Loudness-volume sufficient to reach every individual

•Projection-ability to reach distance w/o undue strain

•Distinctiveness-clear enunciation• Inflection-Change in pitch•Snap-demand immediate response-confidence &

decisiveness

Cadence• Cadence is the measure or beat of movement • Counting Cadence used when trainees get out of

step or leader can halt flight/element– Count Cadence, COUNT– All cadet will count One Two Three Four; One Two Three Four

• Mass Commands– Instructor: AT YOUR COMMAND, Call the flight to Attention,

COMMAND.– Mass: Flight, ATTENTION– Instructor: Have the Flight Stand at Parade Rest, COMMAND– Mass: Parade, REST– Instructor: March the flight Forward, COMMAND– Mass: Forward, MARCH– Instructor: Halt the Flight, COMMAND– Mass: Flight, HALT
