Esco Optics welcomes Tom Mattice! Esco Optics is pleased to announce our newest team member, Tom Mattice, as Operations Manager! Tom comes to Esco Optics with over 35 years of practical and supervisory experience in optical fabrication of various materials including Silicon, Germanium and Calcium Fluoride. Tom is experienced in all phases of material processing from conventional polishing, to CNC and advanced polishing methods. Tom began his career in optics at Eastman Kodak in 1980. He worked his way through the Master Optician Apprentice program, all the while attending Monroe Community College where he received anA.A.S Optical Engineering degree. Tom’s next step in his career took him to Melles Griot Optics where he quickly became a department supervisor and was responsible for setting up their first CNC generator and polishers. Tom then moved to Nashua, NH where he headed up the optics shop at General Dynamics AIS. While at AIS, he honed his IR material fabrication knowledge and was an integral part of setting up the polishing of plano and spherical IR materials. Tom’s final role before coming to Esco Optics was Manager at Schott North America. As the manager of the Precision Optics Finishing Department, his responsibilities included; managing 70 employees as well as improving and refining the internal processing techniques. Esco Optics is pleased to have Tom on board! Tom will be instrumental in the training and mentoring of our custom optics technicians. His tenured experience and knowledge in plano and spherical UV, VIS and IR material fabrication will enhance and quicken Esco Optics’ strategic plan of ‘Rising Above in 2015’. Additionally, Tom will assist in the layout and set-up of Esco Optics’ new manufacturing facility in Oak Ridge, NJ. We welcome Tom, and look forward to a bright future for him, his family and the entire Esco Optics organization. Tom Mattice currently lives in Pennsylvania and is married with two children and four grandchildren. He enjoys fishing in his spare time and has traveled as far away as Alaska to catch ‘the big one’.
