Commissioned to Share

Reaffirming the Relational Foundation of What it Means

to be the Body of Christ

What Is My Purpose in Life?

We are commissioned by God to help others discover their created identity and fulfill their created purpose: to love God and to love all that God

loves.

The Power of imago dei

I am capable of consciously receiving love and sharing love with others.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he

created them.-Genesis 1:27

God calls us individually to invest in the work of introducing persons to their created purpose

and walking with others as we, and they, enter into a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ and move, in community, into the fullness of Christ. (Ephesians 4:13)

The Great Commission

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of

the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you

always, to the very end of the age.-Matthew 28:18-20

The Great Commission is not first fulfilled by groups or committees or through programs and

promotions. It is first fulfilled by persons who are so in love with Jesus that they will do whatever they can to introduce other people to Him and

walk with those people as they develop as faithful disciples of Jesus.

The Great Commission is, first and foremost,

relational, not methodological.

Discipleship is, first and foremost, the building of healthy, God-centered,

Christ-focused, Holy Spirit-inspired relationships, not

a program to be fulfilled.

If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any fellowship with the

Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and

purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others

better than yourselves.

Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your

attitude should be the same as that of Jesus Christ.-Philippians 2: 1-5
