The office of Commissioner Bovo participated this past weekend at La IV Feria deServicios para Colombianos en la Florida event that was held at the Miami-Dade CountyFair Expo Center.

Garden of the Arts Opening

The City of Hialeah unveiled the new Garden of the Arts, a new cultural/passive park onFriday September 25, 2015. The park consist of paved walking trails, parking areas,historic murals, monuments, amphitheater, benches for seating areas, site lighting, andelevated stage with turf seating, lush landscaping and hardscaping. The construction ofGarden of the Arts was made possible through the Miami-Dade County, Fla. BuildingBetter Communities Bond Program and is open to the public from M-F 7:30am- 9:00pmand 9:00am-9:00pm on weekends. located at 1850 West 76 Street in Hialeah.

Meeting with FDOT Secretary Jim Boxold

Commissioner Bovo recently met with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)Secretary Jim Boxold to discuss the Commissioner's plan for rail expansion utilizingexisting underutilized freight rail lines. CSX, the current owners of the freight lines, isrequesting that FDOT acquire the rail lines. Commissioner is seeking to work closely withFDOT to move forward on this project. PORTMIAMI CELEBRATING COMPLETION OF 50/52 FT DREDGE

PORTMIAMI CELEBRATING COMPLETION OF 50/52 FT DREDGEPROJECT & ON-DOCK RAIL

Commissioner Bovo attended the ribbon cutting for the completion of the dredging ofPort Miami. The completion of this project means that Port Miami will now be ready towelcome the new post Panamax cargo ships. Along with these new ships, the new cargowill bring thousands of new jobs to the Port and to our community. The dredging is one ofthe three major projects to expand Port Miami. The other two projects were reconnectingthe Port to the Florida East Coast railroad network that was completed in 2013 and thePort Miami Tunnel that was completed in 2014. Hard Hat Tour of the New Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science

Commissioner Bovo toured the new site of the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum atMuseum Park in Downtown Miami. The Museum is currently in the process ofconstructing and relocating to their newly constructed Downtown Miami venue. Themuseum will incorporate an aquarium as well as a planetarium in the facility. Property Appraiser TRIM Outreach Events

The Miami-Dade County Property Appraisers Office held a Notice of Proposed PropertyTaxes Outreach event at the Milander Center in Hialeah on Monday, September 14th at6 p.m. We thank Property Appraiser, Pedro Garcia, Deputy P.A. Lazaro Solis and stafffor bringing government closer to the people.

Grand Opening of 2015 Colombian Trade Expo

Commissioner Bovo was invited to attend the Grand Opening of the Colombian TradeExpo 2015 near Miami International Airport. The Expo 2015 showcased vendors withbusiness and or products from Colombia. At the Expo Colombian dignitaries received Distinguished Visitor Certificates on behalf of Miami-Dade County, Mayor CarlosGimenez and Commissioner Esteban Bovo.

Beacon Council's "Future of Transportation in Miami" Conference

Commissioner Bovo joined the Beacon Council's panel to discuss the future oftransportation in Miami. The Commissioner spoke about his plan to utilize existing freightrail lines along SR836 and in the future along SR826 to serve the western parts of Miami-Dade County. The panel also discussed the importance of using Transportation NetworkEntities such as Uber and Lyft to solve the last mile problem.

TV Interview with Roberto Rodriguez Tejera

Commissioner Bovo was a guest on Roberto Rodriguez Tejera's TV program to discusshis legislation legalizing Transportation Network Entities (TNE) such as Uber and Lyft. Onthe program the Commissioner discussed ways in which the taxi industry and TNE'scould work together to meet the demand for transportation services in Miami-Dade. TheCommissioner also discussed the need for services to transport people to and fromMetrorail and Metrobus stations.
