FORM has over 10 years experience in cultural and creative sector enterprise, developing design product for the commercial marketplace. Both public and private sector clients regularly approach FORM to consult on projects that require a level of cultural and creative intervention. This has led to a formal commission program, offering clients access to art procurement, furniture design and public art consultancy services.

Through the development of landmark projects such as Midland Atelier and the Canning Stock Route Project, FORM’s network of practitioners has grown to an extensive database, ranging from furniture designers and public artists through to Indigenous artists and photographers. Our creative networks cover a large geographical area and a diverse array of styles.

FORM’s commission program offers a complete package adapted to the needs of the client - providing consultancy, curatorial and project management services, and access to the best of Western Australia’s creative talent.

FORM’s scope of services includes:

- Developing strategic proposal documents;- Providing reporting of progress to the client;- Managing the project program and budget;- Managing the design, documentation, construction and installation (where applicable);- Coordinating all necessary approvals; - Ensuring that contractual arrangements conform to legal and ethical standards, and that safety, legal and insurance obligations are met throughout the commission process.

FORM has worked with architectural firms including Woods Bagot, Hassell and CODA Studio to deliver commission projects for clients including LandCorp, BHP Billiton Iron Ore, Wesfarmers, Brookfield Multiplex, Apache Energy Corporation, Lotterywest, Richardson Hotel, Town of Port Hedland, Shire of Roebourne, Shire of East Pilbara and Flametree Wines.

Midland Atelier, Western Australia’s first multidisciplinary creative centre, is located within four of the original buildings of Western Australia’s historic Government Railway Workshops. Literally meaning ‘workshop’ or ‘studio’, the Atelier is home to a diverse group of artists and designers working in wood (furniture and object), metal (jewellery and sculpture) and architectural/public art.

As the managing body of Midland Atelier, FORM’s commission service connects client with designer: from initial concept through to construction and installation of furniture, lighting and other aspects of internal and external built environments.

Commissioning a project through Midland Atelier ensures:

- A high quality designer product, customised to each project;

- Support of the WA design industry;- The opportunity to meet the designer and

see place of manufacture;- Access to state-of-the-art design and

fabrication facility.

COMMISSIONSART PROCUREMENT

FORM’s art procurement service provides a specialist curatorial selection of artwork tailored to the client’s brand, ethos and spatial needs. Our extensive database of emerging, established, Indigenous, new media, photographic and 3D artists ensures that the requirements of any project can be met.

Our team of curators:

- Conduct in-depth research of artists and artwork that work well with the space;

- Collate a cohesive, unified body of artwork specifically for the space;

- Develop and present an art procurement strategy;

- Negotiate artwork sales with the artist, gallery or art centre;

- Provide purchase advice and coordination;- Attend on-site installation coordination.

FORM can also produce a beautifully designed publication or brochure illustrating the client’s investment into art and design.

COMMISSIONSPUBLIC ART CONSULTANCY

FORM offers a range of services to support the public art component of a project from the earliest planning stages through to installation. As public art consultants FORM adds value to a project by:

- Managing the process through artistic strategy, curation, commissioning, design, fabrication and installation;

- Ensuring public art integrates smoothly with the built form and surrounding landscape;

- Understanding the creative process and operating as a conduit between the artist/designer and client.

Through FORM’s partnership with Urban Art Projects, an international consultancy specialising in the design and fabrication of large-scale public artworks, our clients can access additional benefits including:

- Engaging with a range of creatives at various stages of their professional development;

- Utilising an experienced team of designers to create and facilitate design outcomes that achieve the artists’ vision whilst addressing the physical and functional requirements of artwork;

- Utilising an extensive fabrication facility that allows artists access to range of materials and manufacturing processes.
