“We exist to make disciples of Jesus” TRUTH | CHARACTER | COMMUNITY | MISSION.

COMMIT SUNDAY, MARCH 17. 2019

Our series, REBUILD | the book of Ezra is coming to a close this month with an opportunity to respond together.

Calling on everyone who calls this church his or her church. March 17, is our Recommitment Sunday! What’s a Recommitment Sunday?

It’s the day we invite our entire church family to come together and recommit to our personal involvement in God’s mission and people at Shelton First Baptist. For some of you, you’ve been members of our church for a long time. Think of a couple renewing their vows on their 50th anniversary to celebrate and reinvigorate the wonderful relationship they already have. This Sunday will be an opportunity to do the same. Certainly you don’t have to. But we think this is a wonderful way to be reinvigorated in our mission. Great Things To Come

JH 6,7,8th grade 2019 has kicked off a great season in youth ministry. Our students are learning about how God has designed them to live with the pressures of life. From integrity to gossip, we have had lively discussions and pointed all things back to Jesus.

JH School Retreat April 26th-28th Our 6th-8th grade students are headed to

Island Lake Camp for a weekend re-

treat. Crista Ministries provides a high-level of teaching, worship, food, paint-ball, high-ropes and more. This annual retreat is a highlight each year. God uses the weekend away to jumpstart faith in so many young lives. The weekend away costs $90 per student. For all Crista pro vides, the price is very reasonable. How

ever, there are a number of students who will need assistance in the form of partial or full scholarships. If you feel led by the Lord to give money towards a scholarship, please contact Pastor James at 3604268461 or [email protected].

High School Youth Sumer Mission with YWAM After 3 life-changing summers in Vancouver Canada, our high school youth group is headed south to San Francisco this summer!

San Francisco is a unique city with its own challenges. Homelessness, hope-lessness, addiction, and poverty are next door to extreme wealth, youth, inno-vation, and a culture-shaping community. Our team will spend a week train-ing, growing, learning, loving and sharing the Good News of a God who came to set the captives free.

Every summer is different and God will use our trip to change lives. Ask any-one who has been on a summer mission trip you will hear stories. Stories about people. Stories about singing and laughing. Stories about elevators and sleep-ing too close to other people. Stories about crying. Stories about friends. Sto-ries about learning.

But most of all, they will be able to tell you stories of how God used a week to change their life. They can tell you how they are different today, because of their trip north last year.

We will begin fundraising soon and need prayer for planning .

Thank you for loving our students and being involved in seeing them grow closer to Jesus!

A NEW CHILDREN'S CHOIR has begun, and it is not too late to join!

Rehearsals are Mondays, 4 to 5 pm,

for ages 6 - 18, in Rm 101 (off the family center) This is a great way to impart God's truth in a way that can be

permanent in our kids' memories and hearts, plus a way for kids and parents to connect in a fun social setting.

Singers do not need to attend FBC, but we will sing about once every month or two for a Sunday morning service.

Please arrive at 3 50 so we can get going right on time. If you are a first-timer, please allow a few extra minutes

before choir to register your children.

While FBC is a major construction zone, look for the sidewalk sign designating the Children's Entrance…

you will go into the gym.

The cost is $15 per child....that will keep us legal with copyright and cover music for the rest of the year.

Don't let cost deter you....you can pay over time if you have multiple kids!!

What to bring.. a pencil and a black 3 ring binder.

Message me (Anne-Marie Nakhla) with any questions!!
