MEN’S MINISTRY

I love fresh starts and fresh beginnings; like the first day of school when all of your supplies are new! The beginning of a semester in Music Ministry reminds me of that same feeling of everything starting over - fresh and new. All of our music groups begin again soon, and this is a great time to join us! Maybe you've been watching and thinking you might like to try one of these ministries. Please consider this your personal invitation to use the gifts God has given you to make music that lifts up His name. Jump right in, the water's fine!

JOYFUL SOUND IN CONCERT Sunday, February 10th

Joyful Sound, North Greenville University’s Baptist Collegiate Ministry Ensemble, will present a concert in our morning service on February 10th at Covenant Baptist Church. A typical concert includes contemporary and traditional Christian music. The group will include singers and their worship band. Founded in 1892, North Greenville University is South Carolina Baptists’ oldest Educational Institution. Located in Tigerville, the College offers over thirty-five Bachelor degrees. The group will arrive late Saturday afternoon on the 9th. We will need several host homes for two or three students each. Please let Tracey know as soon as possible if you would be willing to be a host home. You will be blessed by these awesome students!

Men’s Ministry Breakfast Saturday, January 5th

8:00 a.m. No sign up is necessary.

Just show up hungry for physical food

and spiritual food!

PRAYER PARTNERS

We are bringing Prayer Partners back, and we want YOU to be

a part of it. It is really quite simple: you sign up, we pair up, and

then you pray…and do some fun things at some awesome

events. We have eleven children to match up now, but we will

need more than eleven prayer partners to sign up so we are

prepared when we grow. If you are interested, please let Carsen

know or sign up at the Connection Center.

MOPS INTERNATIONAL

We are excited to announce that we will be teaming up with

M.O.P.S. International to host a local young mothers group

here at the church starting February 5th. This will be an

amazing outreach opportunity for our church. Mothers need

a place for rest, encouragement, and fellowship, so if you

know any mothers, do not be shy about spreading the news

about our program. For this to be successful, we are in need of volunteers to

help with childcare, gym time games, and snacks. If you are interested,

please contact Julie Mathews by email at [email protected] or by

phone at 616-723-6360.

Siberia Mission Trip: Cathy Keown will par ticipate in a mission tr ip to

Siberia January 25th through February 9th. Her team will be spending most of

their time in Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk. Please pray for them. The area of Irkutsk

is filled with shaman, and they are praying that God’s truth will shine brightly

in that darkness. Because it is such a small team, they will have limited

resources in order to leave funds for the extra needs requested by the sites they

visit. If you would like to support Cathy in this endeavor, please make checks

payable to Covenant and designate it for Siberia. God has graciously allowed

Cathy to be able to fund her trip; therefore, all donations given will go directly

to the needs of the people they visit. In Cathy’s own words...I am so grateful to

be able to return to Siberia and for the love of this church family in Lancaster!

SECRET SISTERS There will be a meeting on Sunday, January 20th, at 3:00 p.m. at the home of Rhoda Byrd (3052 Merritt Lane, Lancaster) for the purpose of revealing our Secret Sisters for 2018 and drawing for our Secret Sisters for 2019. This is open to all ladies at Covenant. Please RSVP to Rhoda Byrd at [email protected] or call 803-286-0388 if you can be a part of this fun afternoon. The Mission of Secret Sisters is to create and sustain a community of women who pray and encourage each other in our walk of faith through our relationship with Jesus and one another. RESPONSIBILITIES AS A SECRET SISTER

1) It is a commitment. The lady you are assigned will be expecting you to uphold her in your prayers, and she should be able to rely on you for encouragement.

2) Get to know your sister’s needs and her family’s needs so that you may pray specifically for them.

3) Be an encouragement to your sister. Send her cards or notes of encouragement.

4) Remember your sister on her special occasions with notes, cards, and/or small gifts.

“A word spoken in due season, how good it is!” (Proverbs 15:23) Praying daily for your sister will strengthen you, and the rewards can be immeasurable.

MOPS

Are you ready to RUMBLEEEEEEEE? …Or at

least hang out with some awesome church staff

and friends during this year’s Super Bowl?

Come for fellowship, food, and fun as we cheer

for those battling it out on the field in the

Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for Super

Bowl LII. We will meet in the Youth Room

and have a ton of family centered fun. This

event is open to all Covenant families. Hope to

see you there!
