Commodore Report I hope I have the month right! It's 63 degrees, it can't be February, but I'll go by what the calendar says. The months are flying by, so before we know it Opening Day will be here. Commodore Report

I hope I have the month right! It's 63 degrees, it can't be February, but I'll go by what the calendar says. The months are flying by, so before we know it Opening Day will be here. But in the meantime there is a lot happening even in February. Birthday Fridays are coming back this Friday and Becky is having her very own Birthday Party this Saturday night with a live band and all. Daytona 500 party is back and Valentines Day Dinner is right around the corner. So check the activities section for more details.

Ben's new menu is out and looks great. You really need to come down and try it out. Our friendly staff is better than ever and here to assist your every need.

Our club depends on the members support. It's the only way we can survive plus it's a good time when you're down there. We are at the slowest time of the year for us and we can use your help in getting us through these winter months. The full membership dues are due in December, and we still have a few that have not been paid. If you happen to be one of them and are continuing your membership please pay it as soon as you can. If you are not planning on rejoining, we are sorry to lose you, but if you will let us know that would be very helpful. Even the small things like the slip electric

bills.......well......small for some people!! They have recently been sent out, so let Larry know if you did not get yours.

Most of all, come on down and set a spell!

VICE COMMODORE REPORT

As the primary contact for the WYC Group E-mail blasts I have been trying to keep them from being to redundant. I like to add in pictures and characters and some humor to keep them interesting. So if you have any good pictures of an event we just had or from the previous years some of these events please send them to me. Some of these are annual events and it is good to promote it with past years’ pictures.

If you have an e-mail that needs to be sent, I try to send out Weekly updates with upcoming activities and Restaurant Specials in the beginning of the week and as needed a follow up later in the week to a specific event for the weekend. But there always will be the last minute up dates or message that needs to be sent out as they occur.

If you have any questions on the E-mails whether you are not receiving them, or would like to inquire about having an announcement about a club activity you can reach out to me, or If you have information to be sent out for routine and scheduled events and activates. If possible I would like to have them by close of business on Mondays of each week but like I said sometimes there isn’t time for that and I will get something ASAP. Please be advised that WYC Group Email is and will only be utilized for WYC related announcements, activities and events.

Now My Pitch for Volunteers. It takes lot of time and organization to make all the all the events and activities a success at the Club. We are always looking for Volunteers to either Sponsor, organize and or assist with and event and activity. We always need people to help with the set up and clean for these events as well.

Some upcoming big events on the horizon that we know will need assistance with is the Fishing tournament in June and Boat docking in July. Any help is always appreciated.

REAR COMMODORE REPORT

Wow the month of January just flew by, which is a good thing and brings us a month closer to boating season. And this month we had a large event at WYC for the Bar Association, which was great exposure for the club. Other than that we had a great turn out for Super Bowl and a few Wednesdays where there was a great crowd. Weekend nights at the club have been a little slow, the food at the club is amazing! I would encourage all members to try to make it down if you have not tried the food yet. We would all love to see some faces that we haven’t seen in a while.

Other Items

If I can get 20 people I’d like to do another boaters safety class with the Coast Guard Aux again, we have done this the last 2 years. We did an all-day class last year Saturday 8 – 4ish. I think it is a great thing for any new or seasoned boaters. If anyone is interested let me know. I’ll work on setting a date with them once I get a rough head count.

FIRST MATES REPORT

2020 is off to a big bang (pardon the pun). The first turkey shoot was a huge success.

Even though none of the local teams are playing, from the looks of the Super Bowl grid, the party will score a touchdown.

The Nautical Auction has been set for April 18 so please start thinking about good usable items that can be donated or gift certificates for the auction. We will be limiting the number of items this year so as not to prolong the event into the wee hours. If anyone has fresh ideas to be incorporated, please let us know. We will start collecting items at the end of March.

Please consider becoming a First Mate. The group is not specifically for females, in fact we already have several helpful males who have paid their dues for this year. Speaking of dues, they are due by the end of February for 2020. Only $10 will get you a spot at the table to help make a difference in our Club. Our mission is to be the fund-raising arm to enhance the facilities and function of the WYC.

We are thinking about having a Turkey Shoot for kids only. Please let us know if you would be interested. If we get enough interest we will set one up.

Up coming events sponsored by the First Mates are:

Feb 23 Turkey Shoot; March 22 Turkey Shoot

April 18 Nautical Auction

More to come as boating season gets closer

Next meeting is March 11 at 6:00 PM in the trailer

We look forward to working with all of you this year.

GAS GOSSIP

There is no significant update from fuels. Its winter and little goes on. For those of you wishing for spring, here are a few recommendations from discover boating.com for you to consider.

Fuel System Inspect the fuel system for leaks or damage and be sure to pay special attention to fuel hoses, connections and tank surfaces.

Evidence of a damaged fuel hose includes softness, brittleness or cracking.

Replace components when necessary and verify all fittings and clamps are properly secured.

Ensure the engine, exhaust and ventilation systems are all functioning properly.

Look before you pump. Don’t fill your tank with fuel that contains more than 10% ethanol (E10) as it will damage your engine

Looking forward to seeing you all in the spring getting your boats up and running! WYC is ready to be your fuel provider of choice!

Taylor Oil Company (TOCO) FUEL CARDS

As always, if you do not already have one they are worth taking the time to sign up. You can gas up 24/7 at WYC. If the clubs closed this is your only way to get fuel! Here is the link to the application.

TOCO Fuel Card Application are available on our website or at Taylor Oil Co.

Just a little bit of history about Taylor Oil CO for those of you who may be interested.

Founded in 1927 by the Taylor family, Taylor Oil began operations in the office of J.W. Taylor Produce in the back room of an old potato house. Located off West Main Street at the Old Farmer's Auction Block, Taylor Oil's main products were coal oil for cookstoves, lanterns and farm gasolines.

As the business grew, Taylor Oil moved to West Isabella Street in order to better serve a growing list of customers in 1940. By that time Taylor Oil owned service stations in Crisfield, Princess Anne, Pocomoke, Delmar, Pittsville, Willards and Salisbury, as well as providing home heating for kerosene stoves. Later in the 1940s, fuel oil for central heating was added to the expanding list of products.

Always seeking the best product available, Taylor Oil began distributing Pure Oil products in 1927 and changed to Gulf Oil in the early 1980s. In 1985, with the merger of Gulf and Chevron Oilof California, Taylor Oil became the distributor for that company.

Our current association with the Chevron company steadies our position in the market and remains consistent with Taylor Oil's goal of quality and service.

In 1998, Taylor Oil acquired the business of E.T. Travis, Inc., a well respected heating and cooling contractor with a specialty in commercial refrigeration. Taylor Oil now provides complete heating and cooling services and installation for all types of HVACR equipment including oil, gas and electric heat pumps.
