Electronic Mail Where an author exchanges digital messages
to one recipient or more. It once required both the recipients to be
online in order for the message to be sent and received.
Composed of Three Components: The message envelope The message header The message body
BLOG A truncation of the expression web log. It consists of entries or posts which is
displayed according to the recent post. It is mostly a work of a single author,
sometimes a small group. There are also “MABS” which means
multi-author blogs where there are a large number of authors and entries are professionally edited.
It can be seen as a social networking service since visitors can leave comments or even message each other.
Other people create blogs for personal diaries or online brand advertising.
ONLINE CHAT
Any kind of communication through the use of the internet.
Like text messages that are sent from the sender to the receiver.
May be a point-to-point communications or a multicast or web conferencing.
Can be text-based or video-based with the use of a webcam.
SOCIAL BOOKMARKIN

A centralized online service which enables users to add, annotate, edit and
share bookmarks of web documents.
URL
Uniform Resource Locator the global address of documents and
other resources on the World Wide Web. Also known as Web Address when used with HTTP. A specific character string that constitutes a reference
to a resource. Displayed in the Address Bar.
STREAMING Media Streaming A technique for transferring
data so that it can be processed as a steady and continuous stream.
Most people use this because their internet is not fast enough to download large multimedia files quickly.
Instead of downloading, most streaming medias need to buffer for it to presented well.
PODCAST Netcast A digital medium consisting of
audio, video, PDF or ePub files downloaded through web syndication or streamed online to a computer or mobile device.
Podcast is a word derived from “broadcast” and “pod” from the success of the iPod, as audio podcasts are often listened to on portable media devices.
VolP
Voice over Internet Protocol A protocol for transmitting a
human’s voice in a digital form over the internet as an audio stream.
Even phone-to-phone conversations can be conducted using this technology.
WIKIA collaborative web site comprises the perpetual collective work of many authors.
Allows anyone to edit, delete or modify content that has been made by previous authors.
SOCIAL NETWORKING
Social networking is the grouping of individuals into specific groups, like small rural communities or a neighbourhood subdivision, if you will. Although social networking is possible in person, especially in the workplace, universities, and high schools, it is most popular online.
Online social networking, it a community of people that use websites or technologies to communicate.
WWW World Wide Web a system of interlinked hypertext
documents accessed via the Internet. With a web browser, one can view web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia and navigate between them via hyperlinks.
HTML
HyperText Markup Language The main markup
language for creating web pages and other information that can be displayed in a web browser.
the authoring language used to create documents on the World Wide Web. HTML is similar to SGML, although it is not a strict subset.
WEB FEED
A data format used for providing users with frequently updated content. Content distributors syndicate a web feed, thereby allowing users to subscribe to it. Making a collection of web feeds accessible in one spot is known as aggregation, which is performed by an aggregator. A web feed is also sometimes referred to as a syndicated feed.
