COMPANY wanted to be able to improve their overall investment strategy for HV assets to include transformers, breakers and batteries. To achieve this, they needed a asset management system that could prioritize maintenance and replacements in their fleet. COMPANY is progressive and well along in providing a sensor rich environment of online gas, moisture, bushing and operational performance sensors. COMPANY achieved a very high penetration of these sensors; the problem was that it became increasingly difficult to manage and track all the monitors and sensors. They needed a system that would bring together all their online data as well as their offline electrical test and inspection data in one place.
COMPANY was faced with a growing high tech industrial base with a need for highest reliability; increasing regulatory agency performance and reporting requirements for security of the grid; progressively more stringent requirements by their financial review boards to provide consistent justification methodology for capital and maintenance dollar investment. In addition – they needed a tool for their operations staff for the day to day work. Targeted expansion of online monitoring had begun and already there was stranded data, showing a clear need for a common platform to consolidate information for timely and consistent expert analysis.
