Quality End of Life Care for All (QELCA) Developed by St Christopher’s Hospice and designed specifically for experienced nurses to initiate and develop a culture of compassionate care in their area of practice. Evaluated by King’s College London and recognised as a high impact training programme that provides insights into holistic care that delivers real benefits to patients and practitioners. Focusing on the reality of providing complex end-of-life care in acute and community hospital settings it encourages the application of humanistic elements of care. This programme has proven to be of benefit to the wider healthcare team. Five days (3 taught and 2 in practice placement) followed up with individual learning plans and structured reflective practice. Current issues in palliative care: Pre & post death support for children and families: Aimed at anyone who wants to expand their skills to include child and family support. The course covers a number of aspects surrounding support for children and families when someone has been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, including on-going support around bereavement.
