Assumptions/precepts

We want to enhance the relationship with our members by communication.

Not a discussion about the “Communications department” or inter-committee

communication but strategic conversation about communication with the members

Questions to consider

• What should be the goal of ACC communication?• Are we…?– Accessible– Honest– Concise– Correct– Timely

• What subliminal messages are we communicating to our members?

Page 9: “Communication” The seventh theme? BOT/BOG Town Hall ACC14 March 28, 2014

Questions to consider

• If we could change a single facet of the communication paradigm, what would it be?

• What are the incorrect assumptions we are making related to ACC communication efforts?

• What is, in your opinion, the best example of ACC communication?

To get us started….

• I think the most honest and consistent communication we have had with our members over the last several years is…

• …we don’t care much about you; pay your dues and be happy we let you in.

As example, 3/21/14 question from a member…”What is the daily rate to attend

ACC14?”

From XXX XXXXXXXXXX:“Yes, we do have a one-day registration which is listed on the registration and hotel reservation form.. The regular/on site rates that are applicable now are as follows:Saturday: $720Sunday: $720Monday: $720”

Response to the answer…

Tom/Bill/David:It is really incredibly insensitive to the needs of our membership, particularly our local cardiologists in the DC area, that the daily rate (quoted as $720) is more than the entire meeting rate. Many of my colleagues would like to attend the sessions on either Saturday or Sunday and can arrange coverage for one day or the other. However $720 for one day is outrageous and disrespectful

• Guidelines• Cardiosource• PINNACLE• AUCVersus• D2B• NCDR users group meeting

Questions to consider

• What subliminal messages do we send and how does that impact our communication?

• If we could change a single facet of the communication paradigm, what would it be?

• What are the incorrect assumptions & items we have not even considered related to ACC communication efforts?
