BUILD THE BLOCK— Neighborhood Policing & Safety Meeting

The NYPD officers serving your community invite you to a discussion of the public safety problems in our neighborhood. With neighborhood policing, the NCO’s and the sector officers who work with them, have been given more time and opportunity to collaborate with residents in identifying and solving local problems and crime. The same officers are assigned to our community each day, so these officers learn the neighborhood, its challenges and potential, and the people who call it home. This is a new way of doing business for the NYPD, and we need your help to make it work. We want to hear from a broad range of voices about what it will take to make all the residents of our neighborhood feel safe and secure. Please join us for what we hope will be a lively and productive discussion. Meeting Date: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27, 2018 Meeting Time: DOORS OPEN AT 6:00 PM FOR REFRESHMENTS. MEETING START TIME 6:30 PM Meeting Site: NEW JERUSALEM UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 181 KNICKERBOCKER AVENUE, BROOKLYN, NY 11237 Goal: TO IDENTIFY POLICING AND PUBLIC SAFETY NEEDS IN OUR COMMUNITY. Sponsored by: NEW YORK STATE ASSEMBLY MEMBER MARITZA DAVILA AND YOUR 83RD PRECINCT NCOs. NCO’s: POLICE OFFICER ANA MORA POLICE OFFICER ALEXANDER MIGNONE

Smart Meters Are Coming.

Your neighborhood will get new, state-of-the-art meters in a few months.

How will a smart meter help me? Your smart meter will let you keep track of how you are using energy and help you manage your bill. 1. CONNECT TO SOLAR

Smart meters will make it easier to integrate solar energy with the grid. 2. CONTROL COST

Manage your costs with online access to detailed daily usage information. 3. NO MORE WAITING

Remote meter reading means no more waiting for a meter reader, and no more estimated bills. 4. FASTER RESTORATION

Smart meters will notify us when your power goes out. That means faster restoration. 5. HIGH BILL ALERTS

Get high-bill alerts (and tips on how to avoid them). 6. EASIER ACTIVATION

Remote activation means easier service transfer or activation. 7. GREENER CHOCIES

Use information from your smart meter to make wiser energy decisions that help the environment. Easy Installation

Installation is quick, with only a brief disruption to your power.

You don’t need to be home for the installation unless you need to be home for your meter reading. If you need to be there

we’ll let you know soon how to make an appointment.

You’ll find a note on your door when we’re done.

Saturday, June 23 and July 21, 2018

11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Come with us as we explore the winding paths of historic The Evergreens Cemetery on a walking tour led by James Henry. We will visit the gravesites of notable residents -- who reflect the racial and religious diversity of New York City -- including artist, actors, musicians and entertainers as well as some controversial personalities. We will learn about Victorian funerary symbols and styles as well as secret societies and their mysterious memorials. The tour will also include a trip inside our normally ‘off-limits’ Receiving Vault as well as other surprises.

Registration is appreciated but not required. $5 suggested donation.
