First of all, we would like to thank you and congratulate you for deciding to take action regarding the feral cats living in your area. Neutering these cats is the only solution to the problem you are experiencing. The benefits of Trap-Neuter-Return are multiple. Not only does it stabilise the number of cats living there, but the cats become also healthier and as a result are often better hunters. Removing cats is not a solution for a few reasons: there are not enough homes available and relocations of feral cats is often unsuccessful as the cats are used to the environment they came from; furthermore, removing the cats will create a vacant space in which new, unneutered cats will move in. It may be possible to rehome kittens, especially if they have been socialised, but it is our policy to have them neutered prior to rehoming. Although we cannot fund the neutering, we are here to provide support and our services throughout this journey. We will offer advice and will be happy to give our time to come and trap the cats. We work on a voluntary basis and do not charge for our own services. We work with a number of vets with whom we have negotiated a significant discount for the neutering of feral cats (approximately 30% discount note that this discount does not apply to pets and only applies if all cats, including males and kittens, are neutered). As well as being neutered, the cats receive a health check and a flea and a worm treatment, and thus come back a lot healthier. Please, do not hesitate to contact us for a quote or if you have any questions or need help. If you are ready to go ahead, let us know and we will come to assess the project. We have enclosed some documentation in order to help you with this project. In this pack, you will find some useful information regarding TNR and its benefits. You will also find documentation relating to fundraising, as well as a form to fill in order to help you and us organising the project. Remember that we are here to assist you at any and every stage of the project. As our funds are limited, we cannot fully finance this project. However, we are always happy to provide support in organising a fundraiser if you cannot entirely finance the project yourself. The enclosed documentation will hopefully give you ideas on how to raise the money to get the cats spayed and neutered. Depending on the situation, some might be more appropriate than others. For a small number of cats, we would encourage you to talk to your neighbours and family members and ask them if they could all give a small contribution. However, if there are a large number of cats, the cost will be higher and a fundraising event might be necessary. Once you are set on a fundraising method, we can help with the organisation and our volunteers will give you some support. In order to prepare for the actual project, we will need you to answer a few questions and we have enclosed a planning form for this purpose. Once the funds are raised, we will then be able to begin with trapping and having the cats neutered. TNR Planning Form Thanks for enquiring about TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return). This sheet is meant to help you and us to plan your TNR project. In order to be effective, we need your cooperation in organising this project.

Name: _________________________________________________________________________

Phone: _________________________________________________________________________

Email: _________________________________________________________________________

Location of the colony: ____________________________________________________________

Approximate number of cats: _______________________________________________________

Do you have a vet in mind or would you like Community Cats to organise a discounted rate with one?

__________________________________________________________________________________ Time the cats are around (usually feeding time): ___________________________________________

Are there any sick cats, if so, state? _____________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________

Are there any pregnant females? _______________________________________________________

Are there any kittens? If so, can you estimate their age? ____________________________________

Are there any nursing mothers? (Nursing mothers should not be trapped as it might result in the death of their kittens if they are separated for too long) __________________________________________

How do you plan to fund the project? ___________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________________

Although we would like to be able to fund neutering, our resources are too limited and we have to rely on the public to organise fundraisers. Please, have a look at the documentation relating to fundraising.

Cats need one or two night recovery after their operation. Can you provide a safe and sheltered recovery space (a shed, a garage, etc) where the cats, in cages, could be kept? ___________________

__________________________________________________________________________________

Are there any cats that shouldn’t be trapped, either because they are already neutered or are pets? If so, provide details. _________________________________________________________________

TNR Consent Form I, undersigned _____________________________________, understand and agree to the following procedures:

x The cat will need to be anaesthetised to undergo treatment/surgery. I understand that all anaesthetics involve a certain degree of risks to the patient and I accept the risks involved.

x I understand that in certain cases whereby the cat is sick, s/he may have to be euthanised. This decision will only be taken upon veterinary recommendation and once all the potential treatments are discussed with a member of Community Cats Network, who will inform you immediately.

x I understand that all feral cats will be ear-tipped. It is a common practice carried in order to recognise cats that have already been trapped and neutered, thus preventing the cat from going through the stress of another surgery. If the cat is friendly, you can have it microchipped instead; the additional cost will be at your charge (see below).

x I understand that the cat(s) will be returned to their location after the necessary recovery period.

x I agree to pay the contribution agreed before the cat(s) are taken to the vet. A receipt from the vet can be provided upon demand to the CCN member dealing with you. Note that CCN is a voluntary organisation and that the contribution asked from you covers solely the veterinary fee for neutering, which includes a free worm and flea treatment; any additional fee will be discussed with you beforehand.

x Tick additional procedures you would like to be carried out (please discuss cost with TNR coordinator):

O Vaccination O Microchip O FIV/FeLV Test

I understand that neither Community Cats Network, nor the veterinarian can be held responsible should the cat(s) be terminally ill or react badly to the anaesthetics. Name: _______________________________________________________________________________
