COMMUNITY ED CLASSESART & MUSICCommunity ChoirPerformance class with emphasis on music notation, breathing and three/four part singing . The class will also include large group and sectional singing . Class will also conduct at least one public concert . Partial scholarships may be available .

WatercolorConcentrate on developing skills and techniques in watercolor painting . Emphasis is on methods and experimentation using studio, sketches and/or photographs for subject matter . Lab fee of $20 to instructor .

Private Voice Lessons Private voice lessons for children, teens, and adults .

Students will buy a music book with CD so they can rehearse their songs at home . (Cost: $16-$25)

Freestyle Painting An opportunity to paint with others and hone your skills in a supportive environment . Oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels – whatever your choice . No instruction but lots of camaraderie . Other artists in the class are happy to provide suggestions and critiques

Community enhancement through Education

Community Education is a staple of most colleges . The classes are taught by members of the community who wish to share an inter-est, hobby or skill . The setting is informal and there are no educational requirement to teach a Community Ed class . Instructors set the class times, days and fees, and are paid based on the number of people who take the class . These classes are not for credit and do not transfer toward a degree program.

Additionally, ENMU-Ruidoso’s Community Ed department hosts local events, such as the “Living in the WUI (Wildland Urban Interface)” series, providing critical information to resi-dents of the community .

Computer Class - Introduction to Mouse and KeyboardThis class is for beginning computer users . Students will learn how to use the computer mouse and keyboard

commands to operate a computer . We will cover the basic layout of the Windows 8 desktop and use Microsoft Word to learn about the different keys and mouse functions . It is not necessary for students to know how to type .

Skills covered in the class are: the mouse and the cursor, shift key functions, enter key functions, click and drag (mouse), backspace key functions, delete key functions, double left click (mouse), single left click (mouse), tab key functions, directional arrow keys, caps lock functions, and combination key functions .

HEALTH & WELLNESSYoga Teaching Certificate RYT-200 The Yoga Teacher Certification Program offers a nationally recognized professional Yoga Alliance RYT credential, qualifying graduates to enter the job market as a certified RYT-200 yoga instructor. Students will learn through 250 hours of training how to teach yoga based on ancient texts, modern principles and to develop safe, therapeutic lesson plans for a broad range of students . HOME & GARDENRainwater Harvesting/Management System DesignThe course will cover steps in reducing treated water use, design, installation and use various rainwater harvesting and gray water usage systems for businesses and residences, and development of a rainfall and gray water usage plan for your property . The course will also review of existing rainwater regulations, introduce drip irrigation ‘black water’ systems; and, answer your questions . Numerous handouts will be provided . This popular class is offered the first Wednesday of each month, February through May . Register for one month . The course is a must for Lincoln and Otero County residents, and members of the Mescalero Apache Tribe .

Energy Efficiency for Homes and BusinessesThis course is designed to provide an overview of energy use and energy efficiency in residential and small business buildings . Participants will learn how to conduct a simple building energy assessment, and recommended safe, and cost-effective energy efficiency improvements that lead to a more comfortable, safe and energy –efficient home, and a lower overhead small business operation . Participants will also learn about local utility company energy efficiency incentive and rebate programs, weatherization, advancements

in energy efficient lighting and other topics.

Power from the New Mexico Sky: Installing Solar Energy in the 21st Century This brief course covers the general development of energy generation in Lincoln County, with a specific focus on the rapidly changing field of solar energy. The course also includes an overview of the history of solar energy use, including new developments in material technology, battery storage, installation techniques, etc . The science behind solar will be also reviewed, how solar works, system components and how to make a solar buy or lease decision should you decide to install various types of solar . How to work with utility companies on this type of power generation project will also be discussed . A solar tour of medium scale Lincoln County solar facilities at a different day/time is also available as part of the course with sufficient participant interest.

Sacred Stones of the Sacramento Explore the origins of prehistoric arts, its development and decline in this exciting hands-on field study class! Translation of rock art and artwork will be covered . Enjoy hiking, drawing and photography . This class will ultimately produce a calendar of rock art found in the region . Students will need hiking boots, water, a hat, camera and food for these trips . Student will also need good health and good hiking abilities .

Alcohol ServerThe New Mexico Liquor Control Act Mandates that every liquor license, lessee or server who manages, directs or controls the sale or service of alcohol for consumption on or off the license premises must satisfactorily complete an alcohol server program every five years. This class provides all the state required training and covers all state laws and regulations concerning the sale and service of alcohol, liquor liability issues and driving under the influence of alcohol . Participants must be at least 19 years old and have valid photo validation .
