1. Open Forum:

There were 4 public speakers: Donald Dalke, Elise Bernstein, Allene Warren, and Anne Janks.

2. Approval of the July Minutes:

The July Minutes were approved unanimously.

3. Approval of Community Policing Outreach Brochure: (Fundraising Committee)

The Board reviewed the current draft of the brochure and made some suggested edits. Cathy, Sheryl, and Akiba agreed

to finalize scripting edits and some basic format changes and members agreed to send a quote and small picture to Joe

to be placed by their name about their involvement in Community Policing. The final draft will be presented at the next

meeting.

4. Board Structure and Annual Workplan Goals

Ravinder reviewed the agreements that were made during the Summer Retreat and urged members to ensure they were

meeting and focusing on the goals that were agreed upon. This led to a discussion of committee assignments and

updates as outlined below.

5. Committee Updates:

a. Ad Hoc Police Advisory Committee:

Members: Kirby Thompson, Akiba Bradford, Jorge Lerma, and Colette McPherson.

Goals: Create better working relations with OPD, Identify projects to partner with OPD, CRO policy,CRO training

b. Fundraising Committee:

Members: Cathy Leonard and Akiba Bradford

Goals: Fund distribution, Brochure, and Summit/citywide event planning

c. NCPC Resource Committee

Members: Nancy Sidebothem, Gerry Wong, Akiba Bradford

Goals: NCPC/NC recertification, Discussion of recertification process

d. Program Committee

Members: Jennifer Tran, Sheryl Walton, Cathy Leonard, Akiba Bradford

Goals: Create outreach plan for targeted demographic (young adults), increase attendance at NCPCs citywide,

increase CPAB visibility.

6. Staff Report:

Captain Joshi gave a quick update about the OPD Community Policing Policy. It is being finalized, including incorporation

of the CPAB recommended edits and reviewed by the Office of the Inspector General and the Chief’s Office before final

publication.
