The Community Response Model
• Brings together government and communities
• Recognises that local people understand their needs best
• Gives communities, big or small, a chance to identify local solutions
• Brings a fresh approach to the planning and delivery of community social services
Community Response Model – key components
• Fourteen regional forums
• Strategic Funding plan
• Quality Service and Innovation Fund
• Enable families and communities to have a voice and develop their own solutions
• Review existing MSD family and community services funding
• Recommend to the Minister for SD&E new ideas for making a real difference for families
• Supports the forums to transform social services in their community (not a general application process)
• Encourages collaborative and innovative community-based solutions

Community Response Model
Quality Services and Innovation Fund
• $90.5 million over 4 years to improve effectiveness and efficiency of services – Level One -
improving service capability and quality
– Level Two – improving capacity, filling identified gaps in services
• Forums to use Fund as a strategic tool
• Not accessed through a general application process
• Want to see agencies working together to work out how they can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of services delivered
What can you do?
• Don’t wait for the forums…act now• Start getting on with ways to work together to
achieve better results for families – if we were starting from an empty page, what would we do?
• Think of new ways to support families to manage their own lives independently of outside agencies
• Bring together and share the voices of families and communities that you have available to you
