Holiday Families

For Christmas, the Good Shepherds

Foundation partnered with the Eater

Seals to provide gifts for children and

families in need. 12 families were served

by the generosity of our local

community. Items like toys, clothes,

winter gear and sports things and

much more were donated to thankful

children and families. Thank you for

everyone who helped us with this

project.

Pinkerton Homeless Fund

On March 16th, 2018, Youth Advisory Board Member, Ethan

Wasiejko hosted a psychic fair at Pinkerton Academy! The fair

was wildly successful, and everyone came together to support

an amazing cause-Pinkerton Homeless. The Pinkerton Homeless

Fund supports students attending Pinkerton Academy who are

without a home or enough money to pay for what is often their

only meal of the day-a school lunch. The Good Shepherds

Foundation hosted a bake sale at the fair to raise money for the

cause, and donated 100% of their proceeds to the charity.

Through many donations from the psychic readers and vendors,

as well as a raffle/fundraiser, $1800+ was raised to donate to the

Pinkerton Homeless Fund! According to the school,

$10,000-12,000 is used annually to support the homeless

population of the school. This is something that our foundation

cares passionately about, and this was transparent during the

event. By Ethan Wasiejko

Blessings in a Backpack

Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals, and

resources to provide food on the weekends for elementary

school children across America who might otherwise go hungry.

The Good Shepherds Foundation partners with Blessings in a

Backpack to raise money to give to children in our Auburn

community food to bring home on the weekends. Good

Shepherds has held fundraisers, including bake sales and a 5k

run in which people from our community took part in and helped

the cause. For more information you can visit the Good

Shepherds Foundation website at: http://

www.goodshepherdsfoundation.org. If your child attends

Auburn Village School and you interested in applying for a

backpack, contact Ellen Warecki at: [email protected].

Monthly Spotlight: Bradley St. Laurent

In September of 2017 I started my journey to where I am now. After sending emails back and forth, my

dad and I set up a tour of Phillips Exeter, the #1 boarding school in the US, right here in Exeter. I was

amazed from the get-go. The people and the tour guide were nice, and the campus was amazing. My

favorite part of the trip was the library, it is the biggest high school library in the world, basically a giant

nine tory cube of books and volumes.

This March, only two weeks ago, I received an email and letter of acceptance from Phillips Exeter, I was

filled with joy and excitement. It was an amazing feeling and I am still very excited. In a week I go back to

shadow a current student and take a more in depth tour, and soon I will be picking my classes.

Now there are a few worries I have, the biggest? Homesickness. The longest I have been away is 2 weeks

on a trip to England, but I survived. Of course I will miss my family, but I will call or text them every day, and

the best part is that Exeter is only 20-25 minutes down the road, so my parents can visit pretty much any

time. I am also worried about making friends, and leaving the ones I have now, they have helped me

through a lot and itś sad we are splitting up. But I made great friends in sixth grade, an in a community filled

with people who have much in common with me, I have no doubt I will be just fine. The silliest worry I have is

the dress code, as I do not have many collared shirts!

Now even though I am going to boarding school next year, I have no plans to stop assisting and being in

this charity, and will help out when needed and if possible. Whether it’s writing sections for this newsletter,

FaceTiming into meetings, etc. I want to keep being an active part of this and have no doubt I will. With that I

also plan to help out with community service at Exeter and continue to help the community

Good Shepherds Chronicles & more

Stay tuned for our new podcast series called Good Shepherds Chronicles & more! We are here to educate and

allow others a chance in growing. An opportunity to help others, an opportunity to give back, an opportunity to

share the love.

Here at Good Shepherds, we are a voice. The voice is going to get louder, as we start to turn up the volume.

Our new podcasts will give people who want that opportunity and want to learn more a chance. They will teach

you, what we do, the impact of our events & drives, and all the issues that need a spotlight. For example, the

impact we make... Each family we adopt for Christmas and people make donations for their presents, that

changes their holiday. Holidays are about the magic! Those gifts for the children make their day and their year

because now they have their necessities and all the little fun things in life. As we partner with Blessings in a

Backpack, that allows children to have all the nutrients and enough calories in a day. These families are not able

to afford enough food, the children rely only on their school lunch. We changed that, as anything is possible.

We raise money for those children every summer with our 5k road race.

We hope you listen with open minds, as we all learn new things everyday. We are here to love and change the

world for the better. By Isabella Baird
