MONDAY, JULY 11OPEN WOOL FLEECE CONTEST

Mary Anne Kemper and Teresa O’Hanlon, Co-Chairpersons1. Eligibility of Fleeces: In order to compete for prizes, each fleece must: (a)have been

shorn in 2011; (b) represent not more than 12 months growth except that in the case ofyearling fleeces 18 months growth will be allowed. Qualifications: Any fleece entered in competition at the Wool Show will be discriminatedagainst if:

A. Showing any paint or tar brands (soluble branding fluids permissible) B. Showing excessive dung locks or tags C. Discolored by excessive moisture D Cotted E. Showing a weak staple or break in fiber F. Containing any excess burrs or other vegetable matter

2. Preparation of Fleeces: Fleeces will be skirted and may be tied with paper fleece twine,flesh side out, or controlled in a manner to allow their being handled without falling apart.

3. Fleeces should be entered on Monday, July 11, 8:30 to 1 l:00 A.M. at the Main ExhibitHall at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.

4. Premiums will be paid on 1st, through 4th places in each class. Premiums will be: 1st - $7; 2nd - $6; 3rd - $5; 4th - $4. Overall Champion (Best of Show) will receive $10.00 additional premium.

5 Fleece classes will be:0400 Fine White Wool (example: Corriedale, Rambouillet) 0401 Medium White Wool (example: Dorset, Montadale; Polypay) 0402 Long/Coarse White Wool (example: Lincoln, Romney, Border Leiscester) 0403 Fine Natural Colored Wool 0404 Medium Natural Colored Wool 0405 Long/Coarse Natural Colored Wool 0406 Medium Cream Colored Wool (example: Suffolk: Oxford; Shropshire. Hampshire;

Southdown)0407 Double Coated White Fleece0408 Double Coated Natural Colored Fleece

6. Classes may be broken at the discretion of judge and/or chairs.NOTE: The examples are the same for Fine (0400 and 0403), Medium (0401 and 0404), andLong/Coarse White Wool (0402 and 0405). Each class will accept crossbred fleeces of its definition.Double coated refers to Llama, Alpaca and Churro breeds.
