Hymn No. 480: .................................................................tune:(congregation standing)

Invocation........................................................................................Pastor Elliot Smith

Anthem: — David & Nicole Mullen, Michael Ochs.....Krystal Morris, sopranoThere are days when I feel the best of me is ready to begin, then there're days when I feel I'm letting go andsoaring on the wind 'cause I've learned in laughter or in pain how to survive. I get on my knees, I get on myknees; there I am before the love that changes me. See I don't know how, but there's power when I'm on myknees. I can be in a crowd by myself, in almost anywhere when I feel there's a need to talk with God; He isEmmanuel. When I close my eyes no darkness there, there's only light. I get on my knees, I get on my knees;there I am before the love that changes me. See I don't know how, but there's power in the blue skies, in themidnight when I'm on my knees. I get on my knees, I get on my knees; there I am before the love that changesme. See I don't know how, but there's power when I'm on my oh, when I'm on my, when I'm on my knees.

Scripture Lesson: ..............................................................Karl KellawanAnd when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on thestreet corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray,go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what isdone in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they willbe heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before youask Him.

Prayers of the People..........................................................................Diana Kellawan

Come, my soul, thy suit prepare. Jesus loves to answer prayer. He Himself has bid thee pray. Therefore will notsay thee nay. Thou art coming to a king, large petitions with thee bring. For His grace and power are such nonecan ever ask too much. While I am a pilgrim here, let thy love my spirit cheer. Be my guide, my guard, my friend.Lead me to my journey’s end.

The composer, Fred Gramann is atthe American Church in Paris, France, and has conducted handbell festivals in our church many times. UbiCaritas is an ancient hymn that is usually chanted. The translated text is,

(hymn 499) was a controversial “praise hymn” 100 years ago. The textwas a poem titled, written for Joseph Scriven’s mother in Ireland. Many argued thewords were sentimental and unsuited for public worship. The tune was written by Charles Converse, anAmerican musician and Pennsylvania lawyer, and at first known best with the text,
