MODULAR MANIFOLDS - QUICKER, EASIERAND MORE STRAIGHTFORWARD TO INSTALL

COMPLETE CONTROLIN YOUR HANDS

THERE’S A REASON WHY THEY’RECALLED QUICK CONNECTION

MODULAR MANIFOLDS

Manifolds enable the fluid circulating through a circuit to be distributed into different secondary

pipes in central heating and cooling systems. Modular manifolds have been designed to connect

the modules between them quickly. The fact that they are easy to fit means that you can connect

as many modules as necessary, achieving a flexible product that meets the requirements of

every installation.

The water tight seal between each module is achieved by using an O-ring that is fitted inside

the modules.

There are 3 modules that have valves inside: lockshield, flow regulator and thermostatic valve,

as well as an initial module, which the shut off valve and a final module are connected to, in

which the purging device and drain valve are fitted.

The installation of the manifold starts by joining the modulestogether manually, making the short male connector on one ofthe modules coincide with the short female connector on theother.Once the modules have been joined you have to turn one modulewithin the other as far as it will go.To finish, make sure that one part no longer turns within the other, and push the locking mechanism into position with a tool.Carry out the steps described with as many modules as necessary.

Once all the modules have been installed you need to fit the finalmodule with the purging device and the drain valve following theprocedure described above.

Then install the initial module.

The shut off valve will be the last element to be connected.

INSTALLATION

Preparing the manifold

It is recommended that the modules are kept in their packaginguntil they are ready to be installed, as this will ensure that thesealing areas remain perfectly clean.

The modules will then be fitted onto the supports. The support will always be installed on the initial and final modules. If necessary the whole unit can be fitted in a metal inspectionbox.

Supports

The thermostatic valves may be replaced by thermoelectric heads,so that each head is connected to a thermostat in order to regulatethe installation. If thermoelectric heads are fitted onto all themanifold ways, a differential pressure valve has to be fittedbetween the supply and return circuits. The differential pressurevalve keeps the pressure constant in the central heating system;in other words it keeps the pressure constant between the pumpoutlet and inlet. This prevents any vibrations and noise in thevalves.

Connecting thermoelectric heads

If you need to remove the manifolds or fit another module, youhave to release the locking mechanism using a tool, and thenturn the modules and pull horizontally.

Removing the modules

The last step in the installation consists of connecting the pipesto the manifold, using the right pipe connecting nut in each case.

Pipe connection

The correct balancing of the underfloor heating system is essentialfor it to work properly. Circuits in these installations tend to beof different lengths and return temperatures (and therefore theflow is also different). In order to ensure the right amount of heatis emitted in each room, the system needs to be thermally andhydraulically balanced.

Balancing the installation

For hydraulic balancing, the return manifold may be fittedwith lockshield valves or flow regulators. The latter has theadvantage of carrying out the function of a flow meter and alockshield valve in a single part.

Thermal balancing requires the use of thermometers. Asingle thermometer is placed on the supply manifold, as the waterflows at the same temperature in all the supply circuits. However, the return may be fitted with either a single thermometer, whichprovides us with an average for the return temperatures, or athermometer on each way. The latter option provides an exactreading of the return water temperature on each way.
