Complete Online Application To complete a job posting application, follow the step-by-step procedures below: 1. Before starting the application, the Choose Resume page will appear. Select one of the following options and click on the Continue button to proceed to the next page: Upload a new resume - You can attach a resume file from your PC or the kiosk (using a USB drive); or Use an existing resume - You can select from a drop down list of all previously uploaded resumes in your profile (this option will only be available if at least one resume has been attached previously); or Apply without using a resume - You may elect not to upload a resume. 2. Complete On‐line Application  To complete a job posting application, follow the step-by-step procedures below:

1. Before starting the application, the Choose Resume page will appear. Select one of the following options and click on the Continue button to proceed to the next page:

Upload a new resume - You can attach a resume file from your PC or the kiosk (using a USB drive); or

Use an existing resume - You can select from a drop down list of all previously uploaded resumes in your profile (this option will only be available if at least one resume has been attached previously); or

Apply without using a resume - You may elect not to upload a resume.

2. If the Upload a new resume option was selected:

a) A File Attachment dialog box appears. Click on the Browse button and select the applicable file and then click on the Upload button.

b) The Enter Resume Text page appears. Enter a Resume Title and click on the Continue button.

You will receive an error message if the attachment was not successfully uploaded.

Only resume attachments in .pdf, .doc, .docx, .rtf, .txt can be uploaded to the website.

3. The first step in the application process is the Pre-application Questionnaire. Complete the following sections of the questionnaire:

a) Read the Pre Screen Explanatory Message.

b) Answer the questions listed under the Application Questionnaire section.

c) Under the Terms and Agreements section you must indicate that you agree to the terms of the pre-application process and then click on the Continue button.

4. At this point you will notified of your success or failure in the pre-screening process.

If you fail the pre-application questionnaire you will receive the following message.

Click on the Ok button to return to the Careers Home page.

If you pass the pre-application questionnaire you will receive the following message. Click on the Continue button to proceed to the next step of the application process

5. You have the following navigation and update options located at the top and bottom of the:

Complete Application page:

Use Different Resume: This button should be used if you selected the wrong resume attachment or would like to add a resume to this application.

Previous/Next: These links will move you back and forth through the pages.

Submit: This button will submit your application. No further change can be made.

Save: This button will save all data that has been added to your application. The application has not been submitted and can still be updated. Once you click on this button the following message will be displayed at the top and bottom of each page:

Cancel: This button will exit you from the current application without saving any changes.

Careers Home: This link will exit you from the current application and return you to the Career Home page of the website.

Page Links: These links (i.e. Application Questionnaire, Education, Experience, References and Personal History) can be used to quickly navigate back and forth between application pages.

Submit Registration Request page:

Previous/Next: These links will move you back and forth through the pages.

Register: This button will register your request. No further change can be made.

Cancel: This button will exit you from the current request without saving any changes.

Careers Home: This link will exit you from the current reqeust and return you to the Career Home page of the website.

6. Answer all questions listed under the Application Questionnaire page. Certain questions contain a Details box which can be used to provide an explanation for an answer. Once you have completed the Questionnaire for a job posting, click on the Save button and/or Next link. For a information/mentoring session click on the Register button.

7. On the the Education page complete the applicable sections. When all applicable sections have been completed click on the Save and/or Next link.

a) In the Education Level section select your highest education level from the drop down list.

For each of the pages to follow use the OK or Apply and Add Another buttons to save entries to the application. The Cancel button can be used to discard changes and exit the page.

b) In the Degrees/Diplomas/Certificates section click on the Add Degrees/ Diploms/ Certificates link. Complete the applicable fields on the Add Degrees /Diplomas /Certificates page. Degree is a required field. The Major and School Code fields can be selected using the magnifying glass or free form in the associated description fields provided a code has not already been entered.

c) In the License and Certifications section click on the Add License and Certifications link. Complete the applicable fields on the Add License and Certifications page. License is a required field.

d) In the Language Skills section click on the Add Language Skills link. Complete the applicable fields on the Add Language Skills page. Language is a required field.

For each of the pages to follow use the Save & Return or Save & Add More buttons to save entries to the application. The Cancel button can be used to discard changes and exit the page.

e) In the Job Training section click on the Add Job Training link. Complete the applicable fields on the Add Job Training page. Course Title and School Name are required fields.

8. On the the Experience page complete the applicable sections. When all applicable sections have been completed click on the Save and/or Next link.

a) In the Work Experience section click on the Add Work Experience link. Complete the applicable fields on the Add Employment History page. Start Date, Employer, and Ending Job Title are required fields.

For each of the pages to follow use the OK or Apply and Add Another buttons to save entries to the application. The Cancel button can be used to discard changes and exit the page.

b) In the Volunteer Work section click on the Add Volunteer Work link. Complete the applicable fields on the Add Volunteer Work page. Organization is a required field. A spell check icon is available for the “Why did you become involved?” text box.

c) Complete the the Referral Information section. Specify a referral source using the drop downlists in the How did you learn of the job and if applicable the Sub Source field. Specific details can be entered in the Additional Details field (i.e. someone’s name).

9. On the the References page complete the applicable sections. When all applicable sections have been completed click on the Save and/or Next link.

a) In the Professional References section click on the Add Professional References link (three professional references are required). Complete the applicable fields on the Add Professional References page. First Name, Last Name, Position/Occupation, Employer and one of the phone number fields (Format Example: 416/324-2222) are required fields.

b) In the School References section click on the Add School References link (three school references are required). Complete the applicable fields on the Add School References page. First Name, Last Name, School Name, Principal/Department Head and one of the phone number fields (Format Example: 416/324-2222) are required.

c) In the Character References section click on the Add Character References link (three character references are required). Complete the applicable fields on the Add Character References page. First Name, Last Name, Position/ Occupation, Employer, one of the phone number fields (Format Example: 416/324-2222) and all of the fields under Full Address are required fields.

10. On the the Personal History page complete the applicable sections. When all applicable sections have been completed click on the Save and/or Next link.

a) In the Address section by click on the Add Address link. Complete the applicable fields on the Add Address page. Resided From, Resided To and all of the fields under the the Full Address section are required.

Although the Resided From, Resided To and the Full Address section are required fields there are no system checks to ensure that they are complete and valid. Therefore you must ensure that all of these fields are completed.

b) In the Name Change section click on the Add Name Change link to add details of all legal name changes. Complete the applicable fields on the Add Name Change page. Date of Change, First Name, Last Name and all fields in the Full Address section are required.

c) In the Relatives section click on the Add Relatives link to add details of all close relatives. Complete the applicable fields on the Add Relatives page. Relationship, Date of Birth, First Name, Last Name, all fields in the Full Address and Birth Place sections are required.

Although all fields in the Birthplace section are required there are no system checks to ensure that a complete birth place is entered therefore you must ensure that all fields in the Birthplace section are completed.

d) In the Deceased Family Members section click on the Add Deceased Family Members link. Complete the applicable fields on the Add Deceased Family Members page. Relationship, Date of Birth, Date of Death, First Name, Last Name, and all fields in the Full Address section are required.

e) In the Current Partner section click on the Add Current Partner link. Complete the applicable fields on the Add Current Partner page. Relationship, Years Known, Date of Birth, First Name, Last Name, one of the phone number fields (Format Example: 416/324-2222) and all fields in the Full Address section are required.

f) In the Former Spouse section click on the Add Former Spouse link. Complete the applicable fields on the Add Former Spouse page. Relationship, Date of Birth, First Name, Last Name, one of the phone number fields (Format Example: 416/324-2222) and all fields in the Full Address section are required.`

g) In the Close Friends section click on the Add Close Friends link to add the details of three close friends. Complete the applicable fields on the Add Close Friends page. Years Known, Date of Birth, First Name, Last Name, one of the phone number fields (Format Example: 416/324-2222), all fields in the Full Address section, and Occupation are required.

h) In the Roommates, Borders, Tenants section click on the Add Roommates, Borders, Tenants link to add details of individuals currently residing with you who are not immediate family. Complete the applicable fields in the Add Roommates, Borders, Tenants page. Relationship, Date of Birth, First Name, Last Name, and all fields in the Full Address section are required.

i) In the Criminal Associations section click on the Add Criminal Associations link to add details of individuals convicted or that you suspected of being involved in criminal activities. Complete the applicable fields in the Add Criminal Associations page. Relationship, Date of Birth, First Name, Last Name and all of the fields in the Full Address section are required.

j) In the Neighbour section click on the Add Neighbours link to add link to add the details of three neighbours adjacent to your home. Complete the applicble fields in the Add Neighbours page. All fields in the Full Address section are required.

11. Once all of the sections are complete:

Application a) click on the Submit button. A Pre-submit Application Check page will then

appear. This check list may contain the following symbols:

This section must be complete before your application is submitted. Return to the application and complete the required section and/or upload the required attachment.

This section of the application is optional. You have the opportunity to go back to this section and complete it or click on the Not Applicable/No Information box.

This section is complete. No further action is required.

b) Once you have completed all of the required sections of the application your Pre-submit Application Check page will appear. You can:

Click on the Continue button; or

Click on the Return to Application link

Confidential Applicant Survey As part of the application process applicants will be given the opportunity to complete a Confidential Applicant Survey form and will be required to accept the terms and conditions of the website. Once the application has been submitted the applicant will receive an email notifying them of the successful submission.

To complete the submission of your application, follow the step-by-step procedures below:

1. You can complete the Confidential Applicant Survey in the following ways:

a) If you do not want to participate in the survey select the I do not want to participate checkbox at the beginning of the survey. Making this selection will disable the rest of the Survey.

b) If you want to particpate in the survey, you must complete each of the survey questions that apply. The following question is dependent on your prior response:

Selecting No for question #5 will disable question #6.

2. Once the survey has been completed you must select the radio button that indicates I agree to these terms and click on the Submit button. You will not be able to submit your application without making this selection.

3. You will now be sent an email receipt of the application and will be directed to the My Applications page. You can review the application that you have submitted by clicking on the applicable link under the Applications In Progress section.
