Completing the synopsis and submitting an account Introduction This topic looks at completing the synopsis and submitting an account. It also looks at how you can reset an account to ‘draft’ if needed.

Where the fees are generated from the information contained in the synopsis you will be prompted to complete the synopsis before you can select any work items.

If the wrong details are entered the system may not generate the correct fee. If you wish to change the answers you can reset the synopsis

In all other cases you can complete the synopsis once your involvement in the case has concluded. Once you have entered the details in the synopsis select Save. .

N.B.

If you reset the synopsis all information and work items entered will be deleted.

When you have completed the synopsis you can submit your account. This is done by selecting the Work Breakdown tab from the Case Summary screen.

With the synopsis completed and your work items added you can request payment. You should select the work items that you want to be paid for in the claim. To choose a work item for payment, just select the box beside it.

You have to select at least one work item for payment. Before submitting a payment request you have to select at least one work item. If you don’t the system will display the message above.

Select the green highlighted area for more information.

You can also select the work items to be added from the icon bar at the bottom of the screen. Selecting the downward arrow will open a list of options. From here you can select which items you wish to be included in your next payment request.

With all the required work items selected you can ‘Request Payment’. N.B.

Once you request payment the account will validate. If the validation fails you will get warning message. If a red warning message displays you will not be able to submit your account until you address the error.

You cannot request payment until the synopsis is fully completed.

If you try to submit your claim without fully completing the synopsis the error message shown above will display.

If you have added a work item relating to an outlay you should upload the attachments at work item level.

If you try to submit the account and you have not uploaded an attachment you will see the message shown above.

Select the green highlighted area for more information.

Yellow warning messages are advisory. You will still be able to submit your account but if the issue is not addressed by the time the account is assessed the work item may be abated or payment delayed.

If a warning message appears you can amend the work item or upload an attachment before you request payment. In the example above an attachment has now been uploaded. A message will appear to let you know that the document has been uploaded successfully. A number will also appear next to the paper clip icon. The number shown in brackets represents the number of attachments uploaded for that work item.

If all the information has been correctly entered you should now see the Payment Request screen. This screen contains the selected work items and the information completed on the synopsis. You should review the details. If you need to change any of the details select the Back to Account button.

Once you have reviewed your account and if there are no changes to make you should complete the declaration and then select Submit to SLAB.

Once the account has been submitted you will see a confirmation message advising you of this. The account status will also change to Submitted.

If you submit the account too early or in error you can reset it to draft. However, this can only be done while the status shows Submitted or Registered. To reset the account to draft select the reset icon.

When you select reset icon the Reset payment to draft window will be displayed.

Select the reason you are resetting from the dropdown list and then select the Submit button.

Once the account has been reset to draft the status will change. You will now be able to amend the account and add further work items if needed.

Once the account has been received by SLAB the status will change to Registered and you will be able to view your payment request.

You can print a copy of the payment request summary by selecting the Printer icon. If you wish to view the work items that were included in a particular claim you can do this by selecting the downward arrow icon. This can be found under the eye symbol.

You have now completed this topic. You should return to the main menu if you wish to look at other topics.

print it out, if you are connected to a printer that you can use
