WHAT IS FITNESS?
Fitness is defined as …The ability to carry out everyday activities without undue fatigue
OrThe ability to meet the demands of your environment or lifestyle
Why might it be hard to define

So what does this mean?

Health is defined as…A state of physical and social and mental well-being where we are
free from disease
Healthy

Mental
Social
So can you be fit and unhealthy and vice versa?
THE DIMENSIONS OR COMPONENTS OF FITNESS
A persons overall fitness can be divided into 2 sub-catagories which can then be divided again further
Health-related components – Those dimensions of fitness that are physiologically based and determine how well a performer can meet the physical demands of the activity
Skill-related components – Those dimensions of fitness that are based on the interaction of the neuromuscular system and determine how successfully a performer can carry out a specific skill
The combination of the nervous system and the
muscles, working together to permit movement, is known as
the neuromuscular system.
Both types are required in all sports but the amount of each differ between each
activity.
