THE DIMENSIONS OR COMPONENTS OF FITNESS

A persons overall fitness can be divided into 2 sub-catagories which can then be divided again further

Health-related components – Those dimensions of fitness that are physiologically based and determine how well a performer can meet the physical demands of the activity

Skill-related components – Those dimensions of fitness that are based on the interaction of the neuromuscular system and determine how successfully a performer can carry out a specific skill

The combination of the nervous system and the

muscles, working together to permit movement, is known as

the neuromuscular system.

Both types are required in all sports but the amount of each differ between each

activity.
