JOB DESCRIPTIONPOSITION DESCRIPTION

The Marketing Assistant, under the supervision of the Marketing Supervisor and Assistant Director of Academic

Services, is responsible for overseeing the production of all electronic and print media disseminated by

Academic Services. The Marketing Assistant oversees the marketing and publicity of the Academic Services

Centers (ASCs) in the residence halls and across campus, Resident Faculty and other collaborative programs.

The Marketing Assistant is also responsible for the graphic design and layout of projects for the ASCs, including

but not limited to, web page designs, multimedia presentations, newsletter layouts, and designing other publicity

products such as T-shirts, posters, flyers, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Previous marketing experience; effective communication skills and the ability to interact

professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff; ability to work productively in teams; demonstrated

success with administrative, management and organizational skills; strong working knowledge of marketing and

design; experience with variety of computer graphics and desktop publishing programs; dependable; attentive to

detail; minimum G.P.A. of 2.3.

Preferred: Experience in marketing materials production; experience designing and developing; expertise in all internet applications, experience with multimedia applications - specifically Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Microsoft PowerPoint (or equivalent applications).

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT The period of employment for this position commences upon hire and continues through

the end of the 2007-2008 Academic Year. The Marketing Assistant is paid a wage of $11.25 per hour. The position's classification

title is Assistant II. The Marketing Assistant must be a currently enrolled university student with a minimum GPA of 2.3 (or higher preferred).

The Marketing Assistant must be available to work an average of 10 hours per week and is required to attend weekly meetings on Wednesdays from 5:00-7:00pm.

Continued employment beyond the end of the Spring 2008 semester will require a full re-application process.

The Marketing Assistant is expected to serve as a role model for all residential policies and procedures. Failure to serve as a positive role model may result in personnel action up to and including dismissal.

1. Create promotional material including, but not limited to, flyers, signs, posters, and T-shirts.

2. Work closely with Web Developer team on website designs. 3. Oversee Academic Services Center (ASC) bulletin boards in the residence halls. 4. Design layouts for promotional materials.

25% B. Marketing1. Develop and oversee production of Academic Services marketing materials and

procedures for disseminating them. 2. Collaborate with the Residential Living Staff to market Academic Services

programs and services including attending Hall Association and Hall Staff meetings as directed.

3. Work with Academic Program Coordinators and Student Supervisors to market the Academic Services brand.

4. Edit and create promotional materials for large Academic Services programs including Welcome Week events, VIP Luncheons, Career Center programs, Resident Faculty and Academic Services student staff hiring.

5. Post flyers and other materials in residence halls, the ASCs and dining halls.

15% C. Administrative Duties1. Maintain marketing materials archive. 2. Communicate regularly with the Student Supervisor team, Peer Advisors,

Tutors, Academic Services Assistants and Academic Program Coordinators to coordinate dissemination of materials.

3. Attend and actively participate in weekly Marketing Assistant Staff meetings on Wednesdays, 5-7pm.
