COMSA EMTE initiates its activity in Turkey with the extension of the Ankara metro • Thanks to its experience in railway engineering works, the Group has been awarded two contracts to extend the metro in the country’s capital for a total value of 100 MEUR • COMSA will complete the construction of two new underground lines • This award will consolidate COMSA EMTE’s objective for large infrastructures to open the door to new markets Barcelona, 10 February 2012. The Turkish Ministry of Transport, through the General Directorate of Infrastructures has awarded COMSA with two contracts to extend the Ankara metro, which represent the company’s first projects in the country. The company will complete the construction of two new underground lines in the capital, with a total of 32 kilometers in length and 22 stations. The contract was signed yesterday with the presence of the President of the Turkish Parliament, the Secretary of Transport, the Governor and the Major of Ankara, and the Spanish Ambassador, among others. COMSA EMTE’s delegation was led by Josep Miarnau, Board member & CEO of the Group. The projects, which are due to begin this month of February, will be built with a total budget of 100 MEUR and will take 24 months. Specifically, COMSA will complete the construction of the lines Kizilay-Çayyolu (M2), of 16.59 kilometers in length and 11 stations, and Batikent-Sinçan (M3), of 15.36 kilometers with another 11 stations. The work will be carried out together with the Turkish partner Açilim Insaat and include the development of the stretches of tunnel, underground and open air stations, interior projects, track assembly on slab track and on ballast track and assembly of a third lane. The extension of the Ankara metro network will permit an improvement in communications in the city. These awards consolidate COMSA EMTE as one of the world’s leading railway construction companies, with over 120 years of experience. With the aim of improving communications in Ankara, the Turkish Ministry of Transport, through the General Directorate of Infrastructures, launched a call for tenders in 2011 to finalize the extension of the capital’s metro network, currently composed of two lines (Ankaray and Ankara Metro M1) and an underground railway, with three new lines (M2, M3 and M4). In July 2011, sixteen business groups from several countries applied for the prequalification proceedings, from which a total of 12 were qualified, from Turkey, Spain, Austria, China and Italy. Finally, the General Directorate of Infrastructures awarded COMSA EMTE, in a joint venture with the Turkish Açilim Insaat, with the completion of the construction of two of the three contracts.
