AMONTILLADO
The awkward teenager of the sherry world, Amontillado wines start aged under flor before further fortification kills the protective layer allowing the wine to continue to develop in barrel with the addition of oxygen. The result is a wine which retains elements of freshness on the nose whilst combining with darker, richer and nuttier textures on a longer dry finish.

Otherwise known as ‘PX’ or ‘Black Gold’ the air dried Pedro Ximénez grapes are repeatedly pressed to extract maximum sugar & flavour. Served chilled, younger expressions show raisin & vanilla whilst older bottlings exude a spectrum of flavours from fig & coffee to chocolate tobacco & spice.

We love Albariño. Whilst retaining throughout the range classical notes of citrus fruit and acidity, the wines in this selection also include a variety of techniques including sparing use of oak and lees ageing to give a delicious variety of wines that truly celebrates one of Spain’s most iconic grapes.
Pazo Baión Wonderfully intense this wine is fuller in body and richer in flavour than a classic Albariño. The super complex bottling shows intense tropical fruit and grapefruit.
Laureatus Bracing acidity and sour peach driven fruit make this a beautifully fresh drinking experience.
Lagar de Indra Bright and herbaceous with hints of apple, pear and grapefruit.

The Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) with elegant stone fruit and grassy aromas and the Dajoar Riesling, a touch sweet and bursting with quince and pear, balanced with perfect acidity.

Whilst possibly the most famous red wine region in the world, the diversity of Rioja is often misunderstood. Young Riojas beautifully show off the bright red fruit typical of the Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes that dominate most blends. ‘Crianza’ wines having benefited from oak show more rounded flavours, softer acidity and more dominant flavours of vanilla. ‘Reserva’ and ‘Gran Reserva’ having had the most time in both barrel and bottle show dark, rich and complex ranges of flavour.

A labour of love from winemaker Raul Acha, these three beautifully presented Tempranillos are intended to represent the passing of time. The Picaro has the youngest vines and shortest aging. The Recio takes more of a crianza style and finally El Viejo comes from 110 year old vines before spending over 16 months in oak. Each figure on the bottle represents these ages.

Whilst perhaps not as well-known as big brothers Rioja andRibera, the rugged mountainous vineyards of Priorat and Montsant produce stunning wine. Famed for slate soils, old vines and harsh sun, the wines are powerful and complex, whilst still retaining elegance and an unmistakable sense of place and identity.
Maius Bodega Puig Priorat Medium weighted this Cabernet and Garnacha heavy blend combine intense red fruit with hints of vanilla from the light oak. The finish is long with supple tannin.
Black Slate, Priorat Hailing from the hallowed village of Escaladei, the grapes sourced from the famous ‘licorella’ black slate soils ooze rich dark cherry and bramble with an elegant tannin to finish.

Joan d’Anguera
This biodynamic estate situated on beautiful limestone slopes is run by two brothers, the 7th generation of winemakers in their family. A perfect marriage of modern and traditional methods they use wild yeast, hand picking and whole bunch fermentation. The Joan d’Anguera blend is aged and rested in concrete whilst the Planella and Altaroses make use of old oak to round and enrichen the lively Garnacha and Syrah grapes they are renowned for!

Castell de Les Pinyeres, Monsant This delicious Garnacha and Cabernet blend has delicious red fruit and sweet spice and is finished with rounded tannins and hints of chocolate.
Scala Dei, Priorat This iconic wine, literally translated as ‘ladder of god’ has been produced in the hills by Carthusian Monks since the 12th century. Its open top naturally fermented Garnacha and Carignan blend, aged in a mixture of French and American oak, bursts with strawberry, plum and damson with sweet spice and aromatic violet to finish. Stunning.
