ConcentraClean* pipeline cleaning technology delivers outstanding performance in cleaning oil and gas pipelines and associated facilities. These biodegradable pipeline cleaning solutions have superior wetting, cleaning, dispersion, and absorption characteristics for both onshore and offshore applications.

ConcentraClean technology cleans to the metal where wax or asphaltene, heavy hydrocarbons, iron sulfide, spent glycols, compressor oils, mill scale, production solids, black powder, and other complex contaminants have accumulated. The advanced formulations may eliminate the need for using traditional hazardous hydrocarbon solvents to dissolve pipeline deposits. ConcentraClean technologies penetrate oil, grease, and asphaltene deposits that accumulate in pipeline lows, such as stream and pipeline crossings as well as at the bases of offshore risers and spans.

Along with aggressive pigging, ConcentraClean technology applications have proved effective in cleaning areas that are highly susceptible to corrosion on both sides of internal girth welds in pipelines. The technology loosens and dissolves scale and black powder deposits that form on pipe walls, suspends the debris in the liquid phase to prevent redeposition, and improves pigging efficacy. Removing contaminates and deposits by applying ConcentraClean technology enhances smart-pig data collection and increases pipeline flow efficiency.

To counter a pipeline’s unique contamination matrix and meet operating requirements, Schlumberger individually screens pipeline debris samples to determine the best ConcentraClean technology candidate for the application. Once the best cleaning product and the appropriate diluent are selected, the product and diluent blend are applied as batch flushes during cleaning pig runs. Efficient application of the best product and diluent with the most suitable cleaning pig ensures that maximum contact time between the chemical technology and the pipe wall is achieved. After a pig run, ConcentraClean technologies do not permanently suspend the pipeline debris in the liquid phase, allowing for easy disposal.
