THE POSITION

Director, Oncology Services

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, directs administration of Payson Center for Cancer Care, Concord Hospital's Center for Cancer Care and Breast Care Center. Collaborates with Medical Directors to establish systems and processes that ensure continuity of care for patients, their families and providers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops, implements, expands and manages programs related to oncology services, including care coordination, patient support services, clinical research, Cancer Registry, and community outreach and health education / promotion.

Collaborates with, and coordinates, activities of medical, nursing, and administrative staffs and services.

Works collaboratively with national and local organizations, ie American Cancer Society, NH Comprehensive Cancer Collaboration.

Administers all Center for Cancer Care and Breast Care Center professional services agreements.

Assumes responsibility for preparing annual budgets and monitoring department's performance.

Acts proactively to meet financial and operational goals.

Directs hiring and training of personnel.

Develops and maintains policies and procedures.

Works with appropriate members of the hospital medical staff to maintain the designation as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Center from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and designation as an accredited breast center by the National Accreditation for Breast Centers.

 Works with Concord Hospital Trust, the philanthropic arm of Concord Hospital, as a spokesperson for the Payson Center at events where the Payson Center is a beneficiary, signs donation appeals when appropriate, conducts tours and visits with individual and corporate donors, provides the Trust with statistics and stories about Payson Center activities and philanthropic fund utilization.

Plans, directs, and monitors quality assurance, quality control and quality improvement programs to conform to federal, state, local, and hospital regulations and guidelines.

Coordinates inspection and survey processes for all outside agencies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises 15 to 20 employees in the Cancer Center and Breast Care Center. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience – RN or Master’s in related field.

Payson Center for Cancer Care

The Payson Center for Cancer Care is one of Concord Hospital’s Centers of Excellence, accredited by the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer (CoC) as a Comprehensive Community Cancer Center, which means they have voluntarily committed to provide the best in cancer diagnosis and treatment, and we are in compliance with CoC's standards.

The board-certified physicians on their medical staff, and nationally-certified oncology nurses are dedicated to providing quality health care in a supportive, caring environment.

The Payson Center for Cancer Care has a wonderful Genetic Counseling Program in collaboration with NH Oncology-Hematology (NHOH), and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). DFCI genetic counselors are available to provide consultation to appropriate patients, along with input from an NHOH physician. All cases are reviewed by the team at DFCI's Cancer Risk & Prevention Program.

They are able to provide eligible patients access to medical oncology and radiation oncology based national clinical research trials.

Supportive services are available through our Payson Center for Cancer Care, as well as through community partners and resources.

HOPE Resource Center offers guidance, information and support programs for people affected by cancer — most at no charge.

Services coordinated by the HOPE Resource Center include:

Complementary therapies for stress reduction; A range of complementary therapies including exercise, yoga,

hypnotherapy, meditation, Reiki and acupuncture. Financial counseling to assist with financial concerns;

Financial counselors meet with patients to discuss their financial situation and help them understand the terms and conditions of their insurance coverage for cancer treatment, as well as help them financial assistance resources.

Nutrition counseling to address special dietary needs; A registered oncology dietitian is available to discuss patients’ dietary

needs, evaluate and monitor nutritional status, and help them deal with side effects of treatment.

Social services to sort through the cancer experience; A dedicated oncology social worker helps patients and their families

sort through the cancer experience and connects them to applicable resources, including transportation for patients needing help getting to and from treatment.

Spiritual care to help cope with cancer diagnosis; Spiritual care counselors help patients and families cope with the

impact of a cancer diagnosis. Educational programs, classes and support;

Support groups and educational programs provide a comfortable, safe environment to share feelings and thoughts on cancer-related issues. Participants can get useful information about community services, share tips on coping skills and find new ways to deal with stress.

Lifestyle transformation program for people diagnosed with cancer. Our Payson Center for Cancer Care's Anticancer Lifestyle Program helps
