I. THE PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAMThe purpose of the Civil Technology Program is to bring up Civil Technicians who have the practice skills and theoretical information at maximum levels and will work in private sectors and in public foundations and institutions. The Purposes of the program;
· Having information about all types of construction materials being used in building construction,
· Having information and skills in the construction of purpose fitting, substantial, stable, earthquake-resistant buildings,
· Having information about the organization of construction area,
· Having information and skills in the subjects of length in meters, discovery and progress payment,
· Being able to draw (AUTOCAD) and calculate s ta t i c -concre te (STA4CAD,IDECAD, PROBINA…etc.) by using computer programs,
· Being able to do the experiments in ground mechanics, construction materials, concrete and asphalt materials,
· Having basic information and skills in highway, potable waters and steel constructions,
· Having information about the damage reasons and types in the buildings and the reinforcement of them,
· Having basic information and skills in construction inspection and contemporary construction techniques,
· Having basic information about vocational applications
II. TECHNICAL BACKGROUND AND
LABORATORIES
In the Civil Technology Program, there are: a ground
laboratory where the experiments of ground
classification, a Hydrometer, a Pitet, proctor
experiments, a box cutting experiment, 3-axes and 1-
axes pressure exper iments, consol idat ion
experiments;
concrete and material laboratories where aggregate
and concrete experiments and researches are carried
out they are all free for student use.
In order to use stable calculating, designing and
drawing, we have a common computer laboratory
which is used with other departments. In our
department, there are four experienced, practical and
qualified instructors. By following the new advances,
our department, with the direction of new advances
and updating new and contemporary construction
techniques, by using newly produced and used
construction materials, new applications; drawings,
designing and calculating with a computer are carried
out and the needs and the desires of the sector are
met.
a cement laboratory where the specification of the
physical features of cement; an asphalt laboratory
where the specification of bitumen material's features
and the stability of hot mixtures and the calculation of
the value of creeping;
a material laboratory where the speed of creeping of
steel materials, durability of pulling and the measuring
of its behavior;
· Official institutions (Highway Commission,
The State Water Supply Administration,
Spec ia l P rov inc ia l Admin i s t ra t ion ,
Municipalities…etc.),
· Foundations or institutions having civil
engineering works,
· The Engineering and Architecture offices,
· Contractorship firms and construction areas,
· Building-audit firms,
· Technical personnel in the firms where
drawing and designing are carried out with
computers (AUTOCAD)
· Technical personnel in construction materials
laboratories.
V. GRADUATION REGUIREMENTS THE
PROGRAM
The students who register for the Civil Technology
Program should take at least 120 AKTS credits with a nd th30-day training at the end of 2 and 4 semesters, in
total a 60-day summer training based on practice in
order to graduate from this department.
