Concrete Sleeve Anchors
You will need to know the minimum embedment to know what length of anchor you will need.
First determine the diameter of the anchor you will be using. If you are using ½”, then you will need to 2¼” past the material being used into the concrete. 2¼” + 1½” thick wood = 4” anchor
If you are using a 4” anchor and drilling 2 ¼” into the concrete you will also add an extra ½” of drill depth. Your hole will then be 2¾” deep, this will help ensure that the anchor has room to expand.
It also helps to clean out the hole after drilling with a brush or air tool.
You can pick these up at the local hardware store or home improvement center for about $5 for 4 at this size: ½” x 4” in this case.
