been actively promoting the care and education of young children. She is an accredited trainer and practicum supervisor, a Quality Assurance coach and a consultant for early years educare. She is also a resource person for parenting workshops and a qualified infant massage instructor.

Claire Yang is a Drama Educator who works with educators and young people of various ages, using

drama as a tool for teaching and learning. Armed with an M.A. in Applied Theatre and a love for young children, she has also used drama to build literacy, numeracy, and social emotional skills in special needs inclusion classroom of 5- and 6-year-olds.

Lim Meow Hwee, a Senior Specialist with the Pre-school Education Branch, MOE, had previously taught gifted children in a primary school and worked in the pre-school sector. Ten years in MOE provided her with work experiences in regulation, training and quality assurance. She obtained a Master of Arts from NIE and is involved in developing curriculum resources to raise the quality of pre-school education.

Math Adventures: An Interactive Mathematical Way To Learning Maths

Peggy Zee’s quest is to share her teaching strategies, knowledge and experiences in curriculum

matters such as language, mathematics and science with early educators and parents so preschool children will have a better chance of enjoying and excelling in maths. Since 1986 up to 2008, many batches of children have graduated from the four child development centres she was associated with. Many who have excelled in mathematics have attributed their success to the early pre-math and math experiences gained in their preschool years.

Wendy Tan has taught in a primary school for more than 10 years before joining the Pre-school

Education Branch to work on the kindergarten curriculum. She obtained a Master of Education with specialisation in Early Childhood Education from the National Institute of Education.

Ang Chin Du is currently the Principal of Horizon School, a school which she started in 2010. She is a

mother of three grown-up children. She joined the teaching service in 1979 and holds a Master of Arts (Educational Management). Prior to her current posting, she was a teacher and Head of Department of Swiss Cottage Primary School, Vice-Principal of Tao Nan School and Principal of Eunos Primary.

“Look Nana, A Milk Truck!” Using Spontaneous Exclamations To Effectively Communicate With Young Children

In 1978, Patricia Koh joined the Pre-school Education Department as a lecturer at the National Institute

of Education to pilot the MOE Pre-Primary Classes successfully. In 1981, she was awarded a scholarship to study at the University of London. Since then, she had a great part to play in improving the quality of early education and teacher training in Singapore.

Early Literacy: Nurturing Happy Little Readers

Lynn Chua is a Senior Librarian who has been with the National Library Board for 13 years. She recently

led a team to develop and launch the Early Literacy Library at Jurong Regional Library in April 14. It is designed to welcome children aged six and below to learn and explore in an environment that nurtures their love for reading.

Nelly Fredolin has been a librarian with NLB for 15 years. She currently leads a team of librarians in

managing the services and programmes for users at the Public Libraries in the northern region of Singapore.

Puspa Sivan, an Early Childhood Development and Education Consultant and Training Specialist, has 34

years of experience in early childhood training, administration and working with parents, infants, toddlers, preschoolers and children with special needs in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the region. She holds a BSc in Child Development and Early Childhood Education and Masters of Education in Special Education. In her last 23 years of work in Singapore, she has played a crucial role in developing and teaching the respective teacher training programmes ranging from certificate courses to Diploma courses in Early Childhood Education in Singapore accredited by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).

Fulfilling Every Child’s Potential: Developing Growth Mindset And Emotional Intelligence

Dr May Lim is an experienced occupational therapist, working with children in Singapore and Australia.

She received an award to undertake and complete the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities and Related Disabilities at Belmont University and Vanderbilt children Hospital (USA). She is currently teaching the Occupational Therapy course at the Singapore Institute of Technology in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin.

Unleash The Cartoonist In You: Storytelling Through Cartooning

Kamarunisa Mohamed is an Early Childhood Educator with over fifteen years of experience in early

childhood education. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Studies. Miss Mohamed has written and conducted numerous parental education and teacher training courses. She is currently writing her first book on working in early childhood education.

Iskander Walen is a widely published Dutch cartoonist and author of several cartoon books. He is the founder of cartooning studio SG Cartoons and the Singapore Cartooning Institute. His cartoons are commissioned by leading corporations and organizations and his fine art sculptures and paintings have been shown in solo and group exhibitions. Iskander has designed and conducted courses on making cartoons.

A Developmental Psychologist by training, Oh Shujun is deeply passionate about her work with pre-schoolers, families and teachers in the community. She is presently part of a multi-disciplinary team from the Department of Child Development, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, supporting early identification and intervention for pre-schoolers with mild developmental needs.
