Conditions

Page 2: Conditions

As long as is a synomyn for provided that. Both mean but only if...

Bart will pass the exam as long as he continues studying hard.

Bart will go to the university but only if he studies a lot.

Bart will get a degree providing that he works hard at university.

Page 3: Conditions

We use even if instead of if to emphasize.

I wouldn’t study even if my teacher was Pamela Anderson.

I wouldn’t have concentrated even if my teacher had been uglier.

I won’t study even if my father persuades my mother to buy me a motorbike.

Page 4: Conditions

Unless means if not. It is used as a negative condition.

Unless Bart listens to his teachers’ advices, he won’t get a good job.

Bart won’t become a doctor unless he studies seriously.

Bart will have serious problems unless he changes his manners.
