Emphasis will be on cutting-edge care of injured children, up-to-date protocols for adult with traumatic orthopedic injuries, current research in traumatic injury, and inter-professional teams to deliver better care. Following the conference, the participants should be able to: Summarize current research activity in the area of traumatic injury Evaluate cutting-edge care in the management of critically injured children and adult patients Identify how to resuscitate an injured pregnant trauma patient (mother and baby) List the indications for when to perform a perimortem c-section Implement diagnostic, treatment and management protocols for patients with orthopedic trauma New methods to diagnose, treat and manage traumatic injury Discuss regional and national data regarding spillover violence along Texas and Southwest border Identify various available methods to determine endpoints of resuscitation in the emergency room This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, Paul L.
