This year’s conference offers three strands of training

• PBIS Foundations Strand

• PBIS Sustainability Strand

• PBIS Individualized Intervention Strand

We welcome participants at our kick-off session on June 7, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Participants will also receive electronic materials to take back to their school so that plans for positive change can be established. The most important goal of this conference is to positively change the educational environment for as many students as possible.

The Southeast Conference on Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) is a two day annual conference that provides training for schools and districts for developing school-wide behavioral intervention plans. Participants will be able to attend sessions specific to their school’s PBIS needs.

This year’s conference offers three strands of training.PBIS FoundationsPBIS SustainabilityPBIS Individualized Intervention

At the completion of the conference, teachers will have plans and the materials necessary for effective and efficient implementation.

Prevention, Teaching, Consistency“The goal of the Southeast Conference on Positive Behavior Interventions and Support is to ensure that every teacher will leave every session with materials to take back to their classrooms.”

This conference focuses on providing in-depth training for teachers by providing different trainings within the specific tiers of PBIS. The topics for this year’s conference include Foundations of PBIS, PBIS Sustainability, Bullying, Wraparound within Behavior Support and Cultural Responsibility. Participants will attend sessions specific to their stage of PBIS development.

Why School-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Support?

School-wide positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) is a systemic framework for addressing challenging behaviors within schools. The goal is to increase the academic and social behavior outcomes for all students. School-wide PBIS is the behavioral part of the Response to Intervention (RtI) triangle that is currently implemented in more than 10,000 US schools.

PBIS is not a “packaged curriculum” or geared toward “rewarding” students. Depending on the local culture and the needs of the school, school-wide PBIS plans adapt to fit the context and can look different across districts or even schools.

School-wide PBIS is a prevention-oriented approach to school-wide discipline. It is a framework that focuses on the use of evidence-based practices and solid, effective data-based decision-making to improve academic and social contexts. The three tiered approach provides additional interventions for students as their behavioral / social needs increase.

PBIS Foundations StrandThis strand is designed for schools in the initial stages of implementing school-wide PBIS. The focus of this strand will be the development and employment of a school-wide PBIS plan.

PBIS Sustainability Strand This strand is designed for schools that are either early in the implementation of school-wide PBIS or have been implementing for multiple years. The focus of this strand will be to provide participants with a framework of sustaining effective PBIS practices in schools.

PBIS Individualized Intervention Strand This strand is designed for schools implementing school-wide PBIS seeking individualized interventions for difficult populations. The focus of this strand will be to develop interventions to be deployed in schools for more students who need more intense interventions.
