JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGER
BASED: Hyde Park, London W2 2UH, with regular work in all Royal Parks and outstations
SALARY: £38,000 – £42,500 per annum, depending on experience
TERMS: Permanent contract on a full time basis. 26 days annual leave pro rata plus Public Holidays. A pension scheme is available.
REPORTING TO: Head of Park ServicesKEY RELATIONSHIPS: Reporting to the Head of Park Services and Director of Parks, the post holder will need to develop effective working relationships with all colleagues across The Royal Parks (TRP) at both HQ and Park-level. In particular the post holder will work with Works Manager, Estates and Events Teams, Head of Park Services and Park Managers. The post holder will also work with contractors and concessionaires, in particular the Facilities Management and Landscape Maintenance contractors.
IMPORTANT KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
The post holder will need to establish a good working relationship with concession holders, contractors and enforcing bodies.

JOB PURPOSE:
The main purpose of the role is to support every other person in TRP to discharge their health and safety responsibilities. The role will also monitor and report on compliance with relevant statutory requirements. The post holder will help to improve health, safety, and welfare performance within TRP, providing support on long-term initiatives as well as developing solutions that address specific problems.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Providing specific advice and support based upon current legal requirements and best practice
Ensuring that ExCom and Directors are kept appraised of safety law and changes to law and guidance
Creating, implementing and reviewing H&S management systems in accordance with OHSAS18001

Creating and implementing policies, procedures and risk assessments which support the H&S management systems
Designing bespoke solutions to health and safety problems Writing and reviewing policies, procedures and risk assessments Providing advice on safety policies, risk assessments and risk control systems
(applying guidance such as HSG65/BSI45001) Provision of construction/facilities management/grounds maintenance
contracts, related health and safety advice, including CDM, asbestos management and control of contractors
H&S auditing and monitoring of both contractors and internal departments Managing and maintaining H&S related databases and analysing data Managing the Claims process to ensure speedy and cost effective resolution Carrying out specialist risk assessments (e.g. COSHH, display screen
equipment, manual handling, fire safety, and machinery/work equipment) Accident investigation and root cause analysis Writing safety reports and providing advice to the Board and ExCom Developing and delivery of health and safety training or identifying and
